    TD to V8 Conversion

Hi Andy. I am currently converting my 2.5 NA 90 to V8. Which way are you thinking of going. There are two options.... The first is you can retain the LT77 5 speed gearbox but you will need to use a adaptor plate so that the V8 will fit the bellhousing on the box. You will also need to move the...

    R380 Type A/B

Arr, I stripped a R380 to change the main shaft over so I could convert it to take a V8 to fit in my 90 project i was doing. But found that I was well out of my depth. built meany series boxes over the years and even with the parts manual for the R380, there are two many special tools needed...

Defender 90 TD won't start - Blimming Cold!

it doesn't take much to take them out and test them on a battrey to confirm there shot before replacing them. All you need is a piece of wire on the posative terminal and earth them out on the neg terminal. B.

Dash board noise at about 70 mph

hi, I seam to get the same problem with my 98 rangie. I have tracked it down to two things the first is the finishing strip along the bottom of the windsreen, so I fitted a new one. bit of a tricky job as to not bend the aluminium when clipping it on. The other seams to be the windscreen wiper...

    Wet Right Foot

As it would appear no one has a sensable answer. You are probably right in that the water is coming in the front vents. I had the same problem on my 300 defender and the only way I could stop it was to fit Series/early 90/110 vent seals as the later vent seals fitted to the defenders are crap. B.

    Bulkhead repair. AAARRRGGHHH!!!

hi all, I am in the process of fitting upper bulkhead repair sections to both sides on my 90. The cost me about £20 each and I picked them up from Kieth Gott Land Rovers as there my local supplier for parts. I am however of the mentality that covering up the problem doesn't fix it. so I have...

    p38 sucked in water

hi rusty, My brother done the same thing in his 300 Defender and switch it of instantly. Basicly the cyclinders fill with water and as the pistons cant compress water its like hiting a brick wall at speed and depending on how many revs you had on will depend on the damage. If you can free it...

Dont knock the VM, okay it was original designed as a merine engine but the one which was fitted in a range rover I owned was faultless. okay on tickover it did sound like it wanted to escape from the engine bay. but it was a real pleasure to drive and had loads of pulling power. Porous block or just head gasket failure?

Hi Jamie, unfortunatly there is no easy way out of this one. The only way you will know is by presure testing the block and to do this you need to remove the heads. Once the heads have been removed you can couple up the collent system pipes to close the circuit. then bolt four blanking plates...

Buying advice for (relatively) cheap Range Rover

Hi Paul, The suggestion of getting a early Rangie 1973/1974 (tax except) is there are two types out there. The first is fully restored which are expensive and the secound type are the ones which need a full restoration. You will find that if you look hard enougth you can pick up a 3.9 V8, Auto...

    Cant get MOT help

Hi Dave, Sorry to hear the result. To conferm exhaust gas's in the coolent you could put a sniffer on it. Its a little device which has a green dye in it. You couple this to the expansion tank and run the engine. If exhaust gas's are present the dye changes colour. If you are going to strip it...
