    Lock Issues in the cold

Even some WD40 sprayed into the lock barrel/mechanism will be beneficial in this weather.

    Headlight “flicker” on the bumps

As a temporary test you can build up the contacts in the switch with some solder. They fail by the contact getting hot and sinking into the plastic so it eventually doesn’t get a connection. I did this with mine as a temporary fix while waiting for a new switch. But it had failed completely.

Yes absolutely. They are what I have run on my 110 for the last 12 years. Am on my third set of bfg at’s in that size.

    Defender chassis

I made my own for the front outriggers using some old conveyor belt, and did similar with the rear by extending the piece of rubber that covers the rear lights down to the bottom of the crossmember again with some old conveyor belt. they might not be as fancy as the ones you can buy but they...

    How strong is the roof?

I disagree with that. having just done a body swap on my 110 from hardtop to station wagon I can confirm the hardtop body weighs more and two of us failed to lift it off so recuited another two friends. The station wagon body took three of us to lift back on and that is just the rear body and...

Safety Wheel Nut - help needed

^^ Universal key for locking wheel nuts on steels. Although I still have them on mine I found this out when I left the key at home and needed to change a wheel. Different story on alloys where the wheel nuts are recessed

    Dashboard Binnacle refit

As this is your first post I am going to assume (maybe wrongly) that you are relatively new to working on an old land rover? You will very quickly work out that 10mm is well within land rover tolerances and some brute force to get things to fit is usually required. Remember right up until the...

    Dashboard Binnacle refit

Everything looks correct in your photos. The plastic binnacle is quite flexible. And it not secured at the front by anything other than the metal piece you are trying to get in. There should be enough flex to spread it apart to get the piece to slot into place.

TD5 Fuel line to fuel pump clip

That was exactly how mine was and I thought just what you expect from a td5.

    Rear door check strap

My other one is the opposite. I have the original plastic wiper cover and the check strap is boxed in. I was looking at folding one up myself if I couldn't find any with the door card. Shouldn't be too difficult. Just need to work out if I can change the check strap or if I need to wait until I...

    Rear door check strap

That is what I have on my old door and plan to fit when I get a new door. But may get it early and got to this one in the meantime. I can’t find anywhere selling the cover for the check strap and the wiper though. Only the flat panel.

    Rear door check strap

I have never considered that. But the plan will be to fit the swing away that I have with a 265/75 bfg same as I had before. I would be worried a gas strut strong enough to hold that is stronger than the Ali it would be bolted to on the tub.

    Rear door check strap

Are the rear door check straps interchangeable or does it depend on the rear door you have? I currently have the early style manual release latch check strap on my rear door Can this be swapped for the later style torsion spring check strap or do I need to swap the door over for it to fit in...

    Tail lights won't work

If they are the same as mine they will be red, green, and black. Which is nice and self explanatory. But my guess is also an earth issue. LED are very sensitive.

    Tail lights won't work

^^ This What has changed to mean you are asking the question on here. Was it working before LED fitted and now isn't, has it suddenly stopped working, are their other electrical issues. As above the rear tail light is on a 3 pin plug, on the later style it is a 3pin econoseal plug, on the...

Rate this 110 by soon to be owner (hopefully)

Rear shock bushes tend to be an ongoing issue on a 110 and I don't know why. I have mine regularly fail, and have had two sets of super pro bushes replaced under warrantee when they have failed all be in in a longer period than the original rubber ones. I had a period of them lasting about 3...

TD5 Fuel line to fuel pump clip

I am a long way form an expert on the td5 but I thought in a defender you could just hear the fuel pump in a td5 and that was normal. It is sudden changes in the noise that are worrying not just being able to hear it? unlike the discovery there is not as much sound proofing and structure between...
