200 Tdi crank damper mount shot - what to do

I did the same thing when the same happened to my crank, not as bad as the OP but I just cleaned it up as best as I could and then assembled everything with bearing lock to prevent it moving! Was still going strong 150k later and is the engine that is going to get rebuilt after the fire. I may...

Are all dash crash pads equal?

The heating duct end fan shaped piece is different as well, but a new top, new vent covers and new duct end fan shaped piece would be all the part you need to swap them over, you just then need to make up a way to mount it to the bulkhead. Or do as I did for a temporary measure and just use the...

    DIY interior headlining

Make ure you post lots of photos. I would agree with the above that it depends on the finish you want to achieve and what your expectations are. there have been some very competent member make some very nice dash pieces from wood on here so I am sure the roof lining is also possible. But for me...

1991 200TDI Fuel Filter Replacement Priming Necessary?

I will say I am probably the same as I do it when I do an oil change so the engine is not cold for that!

    Best fluids for 1990 200Tdi?

As long as it is within spec and you are changing regularly to the interval (either time or mileage) I am of the opinion brand does not matter and everything else is just a sales technique!

    DIY interior headlining

I also recovered the original but I used the original covering rather than replacing and just removed it and reglues it into place. I second the need for a good quality glue. that is what makes it!

Are all dash crash pads equal?

Unfortunately they are different. The later models (certainly 300tdi, not sure about 200tdi) had wider vent apertures so the screw spacing is different. and the screw pacing on the bulkhead id what determines which one you need. I had this issue when i swapped to a 300tdi bulkhead!

1991 200TDI Fuel Filter Replacement Priming Necessary?

Am I in the minority where by I do not bother priming or prefilling the filter and never have? There is enough fuel left in the system to start the engine and leave it idling, once idling it will very quickly fill and bleed itself. May occasionally splutter but never enough to die and a minute...

    Straightening a 110 rear tub

I had a similar issue with my station wagon body (LINK) where the gap had increased. I did ratchet strap it pull it back together but that only took it so far and then needed to space the latched out as well. Although I wasn't happy with it at the time it has been like it ever since and has not...

Quick straw poll before the Malvern spares day

Bare galv is Definitly the way to go but the question is whether to fit the bumperettes or leave the bumper as it is. Another the same colour adding weight to the argument that it looks good!

Quick straw poll before the Malvern spares day

I have been toying with the idea of fitting the military style front bumperette to my series for a long time. I came across this picture on Facebook market place which is the same colour as mine and it has reignited the question, if I did fit I would be looking at the bare galv finish the same...

Defender 300tdi Lost Power and Died .

It may be a good solvent to Keep things clean but it has very little lubrication properties which is another key thing the diesel fuel does in the injector pump. Hence my use of two stroke oil.

Defender 300tdi Lost Power and Died .

I ran a 60:40 veg oil:diesel mix for years just straight into the tank. But when I was doing that I would get through a fuel filter every 2k miles and a lift pump every 8k miles. I would every so often run a tank of straight diesel with a heavy dose of two stroke oil/atf to preserve the...
