    Odd electric problems 1992 200tdi 90

Plastic blade fuses, all the relays ive found are present but I hadnt removed any of the clocks. The dash lights are out but i hadnt realised there were more relays behind the clocks. Will have a look in daylight.

Thats a red relay isnt it? I wasnt looking for it earlier today but ill keep an eye out for it when I go back to it tomorrow. Its just occurred to me that the fog light and fog light switch arent working either and they are on the same circuit, arent they?

    Odd electric problems 1992 200tdi 90

Thanks Phil, although no doubt you appreciate im "winging it"... half teaching myself as I go and half poking around in the hope something comes to life.... I think I tried that approach earlier. Ill have another go tomorrow with a more strategic approach.

    Odd electric problems 1992 200tdi 90

Brake lights working now. That was just the switch. Although I can still get full beam flash I can't get dip or full beam from the headlight switch and a new switch didn't cure it. No power at any of the four 7.5a headlight fuses at the fuse box........ any ideas, anyone? It's giving me a...

Front screens that can open ?for 110 ?

https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-a-vw-split-screen-camper-van-with-front-windows-open-and-vw-sign-on-86223270.html Years ago I asked a company who made those opening windscreens for VW vans if they could do something similar for the rear windscreen of an Austin Mini Pickup. They didn't seem to...

    Odd electric problems 1992 200tdi 90

OK, slow progress being made but progress, none the less. All indicators are now working. Dont know how thats happened but i'm not complaining. Also all side lights now working. One side light didn't have a ground, but now it has. Brake lights are on and working at the switch, but not from the...

    Odd electric problems 1992 200tdi 90

Thanks, both of you. All i've got is a test light and a multi metre and although up to now I've been replacing seriously corroded bulb holders and trying to do what I could through the headlight aperture, today I will have to get the wheel arch liners out and have a good look around. Will report...

    Odd electric problems 1992 200tdi 90

Its running and driving now but I just cant get my head around a few electrical issues im experiencing. Ive got all the lights working except for the front near side...

P38a Diesel Rattling Chain now difficult to start.

The forum is probably lashed together with old BMW timing chains.......... thats why the posts are going "funny". No, my IP has not been rebuilt Mr Grrr. Might be worth going the whole hog and freshening it up while ive got the thing dismantled. While were on the subject, do you fancy earning...

P38a Diesel Rattling Chain now difficult to start.

Oh well..... And there was me expecting a quiet weekend. Any recommendations of where to get the bits from? I'm guessing this isn't going to be a cheap installation so I'd rather have quality parts for this.

P38a Diesel Rattling Chain now difficult to start.

It cut out on me approaching a roundabout the other day. Id completely forgotten about it. Approaching a roundabout the engine stopped running altogether, "GEARBOX FAULT" on the dash but i managed to coast into a layby. As soon as turned the key it fired up again and hasn't done it again since...

P38a Diesel Rattling Chain now difficult to start.

Cheers DT. I havent checked the plugs but i replaced them with Bosch plugs about 2015 and the car only does about 4000 miles a year. Would you expect them to be questionable after such a relatively short life? That big fat fuse in the bottom of the fuse box is intact and although I made the...

P38a Diesel Rattling Chain now difficult to start.

Evening all. Suppose I should have sorted this out a while ago but its never been high on the priority list. The P38 hasn't sounded particularly smooth for the last year or so as the timing chain always sounded like it was becoming a bit rattley to me. After replacing the leak off pipes...

"Earwax" in 300tdi Discovery fuel system

If my experience is anything to go by its worth just removing and cleaning every banjo bolt and union you can get to. The gunge seems to build up around the corners and edges rather than down the lengths of the pipes, although it must find its way down the pipes if you try to run it. Not sure...

"Earwax" in 300tdi Discovery fuel system

Thanks for that.... as it happens i seem to have been able to coax her into life. No need for 'er in doors tights (thank god! might find me'self down there if im lucky ;)....... but I was able to get it to tick over and then slowly build up the revs until I was able to drive it out. Just spent...

"Earwax" in 300tdi Discovery fuel system

Good afternoon everyone. Just trying to resurrect my 300tdi Discovery after letting it languish in a hedge for the last five or so years. I did have it running last week but then it died on me and I couldn't get it started again. I replaced the fuel filter and lift pump but that didnt really do...

New 90 owner body capping question

Thanks everyone. Hadn't thought of cutting longer ones down, but ill bear that in mind if these don't work out. Im sure they will though. Theyre off a pickup, judging by the tailgate catches but im sure ill make them fit one way or another. Very reassured that you have pointed out that there is...

New 90 owner body capping question

I did start to price up new ones..... but i stopped when I started to break out in a cold sweat...... :) These ones are local which helps a bit, but if there were obvious differences between PU and hardtop id have saved my self the bother. What do you need? PU or hardtop?
