    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

When I was converting my car to EV I had no clue how successful it would be or how powerful or practical. I was doing it for the fun and challenge so I totally get what you are doing. Thanks for keeping at this.

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

Forgive me if this is a stupid question cause I don't know much about Auto gearboxes but have you figured out what rpm the torque converter will tighten up and send drive to the gearbox? I'm not even sure if any of that makes sense but hopefully you know what I mean. Reason I ask is it just...

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

Good to hear you got it sorted. One of the things I like most about my FL1 is how unlikely it is that anyone would steal it. It would be fun to see them try even if they had a key. 😋

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

I rarely use Windows and it's been years since I used the MS command line so even though I know/knew about command line shortcuts it's unlikely I'll ever use them in the wild. TBH I was pleased to be able to remember how to navigate the file structure at all. The fuel gauge would probably be...

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

Not strictly speaking directly relevant to the Freelander but I recently posted a video showing how to make a CAN bus 'sniffer' for only a few quid. All the usual warnings about terminal boredom apply. ;)

Sure the K series is a tiny light wee thing so it'll be grand! 😋

Have you figured how much space you will have for the IRD yet? IIRC the Tie bar bolts to the engine and IRD but will your IRD be in a different position with the Auto box? Maybe just make up a new bracket to replicate the original.

What have you done to your Freelander today

That's true as officially the only thing that has changed is the method of propulsion. I never understood how towing capacity was worked out, a Defender 90 can legally tow more than your Ioniq yet is much lighter. The best bit about towing the Golf was the route to the mechanic has a fairly...

Well done mate, will this effect the lower tie bar position?

What have you done to your Freelander today

Towed brother in law's Golf to the mechanic with it. Funny thing was his Golf clutch pedal was stuck to the floor just like mine. His didn't go as well like that tho. 🤣 Who said EV's can't tow! 😋

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

I think the chip is pretty robust but the keys are easily replaced so make sure any damage done is to the key, not the chip.

Freelander 1 Wattson: Freelander EV Project

Have a look at this Savvycan is stunningly good software for reverse engineering. Make sure you look at the notes for links to other channels.

I used some of that magical error light fixing black tape. It's amazing stuff, one application and the error lights just disappear. 😋 If you figure out how to fix it properly let me know.

    Over(free)landing

When you say the VCU was checked and is in good condition what do you mean? How was it checked? A lot of mechanics no nothing about them.

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

It was a few years ago but I'm pretty sure I did it without issue. I think I epoxied it just below the ignition switch.

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

As theft of the car is not really an issue why not remove the chip from the working key and tape it into the steering column beside the ignition, then get a spare key cut and move on with your life. For those about to mention insurance I'd be interested to hear about a likely sequence of events...

Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

There's probably so many other gaps and draughts in the Defender it's not an issue but any modern car will have buffeting with only one window open. Sorry I should have mentioned I have deflectors on my Freelander and they don't do much for me either.
