i had a metallic clang on the nearside front, even mot tester couldn`t find the problem. turned out to be a broken front spring ,top of the coil but didn`t hear it all the time.

heat shield above back box.?

is it the exhaust heat shield, or even the metal undertray that has come loose. may be wrong but just a guess.

I think you can undo the bottom bumper screws & take off the plastic panel that covers the tow eye. it may give you enough room if you can pull the bumper forward to get your hands behind it.if not then yes you will have to remove it. or somebody may come along on here with a better idea.

have a look at the intake pipe that runs across the back of the engine,look at the joint nearest to the steering wheel, and see if there is any oil dripping from it. just to rule out it is not coming from there.i am not saying it is the cause of your problem, but it is where mine was coming...

if its on the bottom of the box where it joins to the engine , it could be from the intake pipe on the top of the engine,where the oil mist collects and leaks from the joint and then runs down the back of the engine. or I could be talking b******s as usual.:p

I have that issue around 45-50 but not all the time was told it might be a tyre,but they all checked out ok so it has me beat as well. have you checked prop bearings or the offside drive shaft ,shaft bearing.

if it wasn`t for the thought of having to sweep up the rust after a strong wind ,I would have bought a defender.:)

any more mechanical problems with mine I will fill it full of diesel and set fire to it.:p

I have had two batteries in eighteen months they showed 12 volts at the battery and 14.4 when engine is running, this one has the little green ball in the battery to say it is charged but it seems to show half black half green now. had both batteries checked and neither were showing correct...

serviced mine today,the oil filter was a P.I.T.A.it`s been four years since it was last done. just to do the bottom ball joints, front springs, outer drive shaft boots, & fuel filter. then I have to start on the decking & the decorating.that`s not the car by the way. saying that I wonder what...

just ordered the sealey ones identicle, and same price.looked at more expensive ones all with bad ratings.cheers

I have just had the pleasure of taking a cheap spring compressor in the ribs , and on the leg they f`ing hurt when they fly off . I had to put my old spring back on as I couldn`t get the new one compressed enough without it bending the threaded bars like a banana it`s scary when they go bang...

I`m running at 35 psi on rear at the moment, but I don't know about stv123.
