To PCV or NOT to PCV

Just watched the video again and it actually means complete sense and I must have been 'Monging' it (no offence to any 'Mongs' out there BTW). The 'poster' mentioned the filter system and it's 'failings' if NOT SERVICED REGULARLY. Just got thrown by what he stated at the start of the video...

To PCV or NOT to PCV

Cheers Nodge, It does all make sense.. When I serviced my PCV to 'upgrade' it to the BMW vortex system I found it had already been done. Swapped it out anyway as the PCV assembly bolts had been 'ragged'. I am sceptical of the effectiveness in the long term of the vortex system and will...

To PCV or NOT to PCV

Yep, Done all that and I have just watched the video again and it does say that a 'filter system' is used on 'some diesels' and that the filters need to be changed on a 'regular basis' just threw me a bit as I was expecting a 'I know all this' feeling then heard the 'contradiction' of what I...

To PCV or NOT to PCV

This is a 'bone' question... Do TD4's have a 'real' PCV system or just a crankcase 'filter' and where does the 'system' join the inlet before or after the turbo... Just watched a video on 'The Tube of You' and it stated that turbo'd diesels don't have PCV...

    Td4 injector question

Ooooouuuffff, Nightmare....It was nearly as cold when I 'did' mine...I just kept at it until it 'went'....eventually.... B-S

    Td4 injector question

You may find that it does take a long time for it to start after being disassembled. If your battery isn't at it's best that may exacerbate the problem. When I removed and replaced mine it took multiple attempts to get it running. It may be best to 'cycle' the key several times before...

Yes indeed and one day I will learn how to spell and maybe proof read before posting...Ho Hum!!

    Td4 injector question

Not sure if that is significant as I have no experience of looking at that but you may be right regards fuel draining into the cylinder and it does make sense....Best of luck and let us know how it goes...

    Td4 injector question

Think Jim said he has already done a leak back test but that is the exact test kit I have, works well and I'm no genius mechanic.... B-)

Just a little video on 'Fluid Couplings' (Torque Converters)

Thought I'd share this old school video from 'The Tube of You' regards Torque Converters... Shows a4 X4 but it ain't a candy..

    Td4 injector question

You won't have much success cleaning the injectors except cosmetically I'm guessing. It's the internals that need checking and refurbishing (think 'Alibro' on here has had some success doing this?) but the internals are full of small bits and bobs and need to be disassembled in a 'clean...

    Td4 injector question

Jim, I have done all the 'cheap' fixes for trying to sort out some poor running issues/. The most serious one being a 'dead spot' when pulling onto a roundabout or onto a busy main road....NO power then off you go. Mine creates what I would describe as dangerous clouds of white smoke when...

    Changing Rear Brake Lines

Hi Nodge, I plan on making my own and changing out any other pipework that needs replacing. Not looked at the front discs and pads as of yet so they are on the 'look see' and possibly 'to do' list. They will definitely get the 'once over' and I will be doing a complete flush of the brake fluid...

    Changing Rear Brake Lines

Just after watching three hours of porn and wonder if anyone has any information on replacing the rear brake lines on a 2004 Facelift TD4 5 door? Had quick look when I replaced the handbrake cables and mine look a bit 'ropey' so I am looking to replace then before the next MOT. Are these lines...
