    200TDi in a LWB Series 3

The 300 will also cure the turbo problem in a LWB. It is mainly because the chassis is deeper top to bottom and it gets in the way :D Chassis notching can be done to make the Discovery 200 fit with it's turbo but opinion is divided. (picture of required notch below) A 300 intercooler will...

    Autobox not changing

Yes that is what I expected. But you can put it in 1 and move off then shift to 2 yourself and it will change up it the engine revs are high enough. Doing this test will help point to where the problem lies. I think maybe we were saying the same thing in two different ways :)

What's the one thing you would change about the design of a Defender?

:D I was going to say "elbow room" :D

    Autobox not changing

Start in 1 and then shift to 2, does it change up then? Re-reading thread. You haven't posted that you have checked the ATF level.

Land Rover series 3 88 diffs

I think you will find that the Stage one has a 'Salisbury' axle an not a Rover type axle. You maybe better off looking for Range Rover 10 spline diffs as these are also 3.54:1 ratio and will fit you casing and half shafts as is.

    radiator qs

Really. Last 300 Tdi rad I saw had a copper core......well what was left of it! :)

How to get the most power from a naturally aspirated 2.5d?

Replace it with your friends 200 Tdi :D No seriously. It will be much better.
  11. andyb66

Which engine am I looking at??

Flat top to the inlet manifold or rounded top? Flat is Tdi of some form, rounded it 2.5TD 19J engine.

    2.5d onto sIII gearbox

IIRC you can run the complete Series clutch to suit the gearbox as the flywheel bolt pattern for the pressure plate is the same.

Best performance shocks & springs for a 110

No problem with that..........perhaps I am a control freak :D

Best performance shocks & springs for a 110

Only because they are relative terms rather than absolutes. How does the 'light' kit compare to standard fitment for example. That is the only reason :)

    gearbox overheating

Get the temperature sensor checked/changed and check the ATF fluid level in the box.

    radiator qs

Cos it's made of aluminium. :) To be fair you can get the a standard spec replacement rad for about the same price.

Best performance shocks & springs for a 110

Nothing against the quality of Terrafirma products, but I am suspecious of 'light/medium/heavy' as a measure of springs. It is a pretty good starting point, but IME you eventually end needing to know spring rates/poundages and free lengths to get the correct setup.

Another vote here for Old Man Emu. Fitted on my Discovery and no regrets.

300 tdi manual to auto convertion

Sorry my mistake. Doh! It bolts to flywheel and TC bolts to flex plate.
  20. andyb66

    Conversion info leaving me confused.

I don't know where the original poster lives (other than Dorset), but that can't be too far from me..........in case engine mounts need modding/moving.
