Nut size on a-frame ball joint

The A-frame ball joint nut on the Disco (and RRC) axle needs and opened spanner. You can get a socket on Defender ones.

    General tools

It actually depends upon what Land Rover you have and to be honest, mine has been built up over 20 years and is used for all manner of things from ride on mower, euroboxes and tractors.....as well as Land Rovers obviously. You really need to add to your tool box as you go, my suggestion...

    General tools

Yep that's the one. They have changed a few bits since I got mine. They also do rebuild kits for the ratchets as well. I would suggest getting a 3/8 breaking bar as well......while I think about it. I would list the complete content of my roll cab..........but some of the inbreds on here...

    200 tdi engine mounts

n/a engine mounts? Do they work if he is replacing a V8? TBH I have no idea what the original engine was, but if n/a mounts will work then go ahead :)

    General tools

I'll probably get flamed for this but.... The 150 piece Halfords set plus their breaking bar is not a bad start. They do do some large sockets as well, so you can get those on an 'as needed basis'.

No, but it is worth replacing them with a metal equivalent.....which I assume is MHM B&Q reference.

    Auto Gearbox advise ?

Simply just changing ATF (by drain and refill) and the filter can disturb some debris that ends up blocking up the valve block and/or governer.

    TD4 Crankcase Filter

Try checking the second post in this thread....there are pictures and everything :)

    TD4 Crankcase Filter

If the dealer is doing the servicing then ask them to do the crankcase filter as well for piece of mind. The filters themselves are not expensive and only add 20 minutes at most to the service time overall. IMO a good garage would do this and add it to the annual service schedule.

Running a 200tdi without an Intercooler

Get a 300Tdi intercooler (about £20 2nd hand) and fit it in the radiator panel on the near side and run the pipes past the side of the radiator. It is possible to run a Series rad and separate oil cooler or just blank off the oil cooler out lets at the filter end.
