:doh: Do you actually know how the points system works for ID retention? NONE of those items you listed is worth a single point! Points to retain ID are for the chassis, steering, gearbox, axles, suspension etc. The body stuck on top can be any damn thing you want!

I would go to see it, have a good test drive to appreciate what your dad did. I would take loads of pics for the memories, THEN tell the dealer the story and get them to pass on your details. You will have some more memories - "I drove my dads Landy",plus pics and maybe video as well. I do...

For green laning you shouldn't need tons of kit. If you do, you are either trashing the place, or drving into places that are beyond you abilities.

Dunno. But if your UJs are stuffed, just refurbish or replace the UJs, you don't need a new prop!

If tyres are directional, then depending which way they are fitted on the rim determines which side of the vehicle you can mount them. This is fine but it means the spare will only be good for OS or NS, not both!

Thats a nice diagram. Got one like that for S3 in full colour? I have haynes plus the green bible but that is better than any I have ever seen.

A guy on LRUK tried to remove his polys... and couldn't! He had to hack n cut them. So that benefit was gone. :doh::doh:

I am putting a 200Di into my 88. It DOES use the standard chassis mounts. You DON't have to fab an exhaust if you lose the turbo. You can use a bog standard diesel manifold and standard exhaust. You can then run on the standard series rad. A TDi will have more power... but will burn more fuel...
