Hi Dan Nowhere near I'm afraid , what I did with mine was to work out how much it turns as you lower the housing onto the cam gear and adjust for that , think I also turned the oil pump spindle with home made tool incase that was twisting it out of alignment

All cylinders look like showing original honing marks, so can’t be worn much at all, have you measured internal diameters, would have thought the stained areas polish off

Are the tappets set properly, is air filter does the butterfly valve fully open in inlet manifold, are any brakes binding/ getting hot after run. You could check the spray pattern on injectors when turning over by disconnecting injector pipes and swivelling round, a compression check might show...

Bolts would need at least the diameter of bolt in length to be screwed in, what part number did you get.

8 seconds is good not a problem mine took much longer , trick is to keep it turning until it starts proper foot fully down on accelerator pedal to get the air in cylinders to get it compressed

I seen a tip not long back how to get driveshafts out, think it was turn shaft until wire clip has open ends at bottom so clip sits further in groove at top before pulling out, obviously it’s a bit trial and error as to where the clip is so keep turning and pulling

It’s possible, but needs a lot of cranking, how long was yours turning over before it started
