i own a D2 and our buisness owns a D4. i love my D2 but i end up driving the D4 every oppertunity i get the D2 also goes wrong alot more often, the D4 hasn't missed a beat in 60k miles easy choice

GL5 is knowhere as corrosive as it used to be i use it in everything with 0 problems. i've consulted our oil supplier about it before and he assured me its a thing of the past, GL5 is just the highest grade now. oil technology has moved on leaps and bounds

im sure it wouldn't be the first time. .. ill take the bits to my engine guy and see if they're salvageable if not id only rebuild another engine anyway so might aswell see if this one will go again who does the best camshafts ? nothing mental just more low/ medium toque like the kent...

right weve stripped the engine down tonight ... well nothings broken ... which is abit dissapointing ... i guess :p but still staggers me that it ran so badly and went from running fine to being so crap, with nothing seriously broken ... the crank is intact, as is the cam, all the conrods are...

That's true 4.6 run on standard or running gear fine and should be cheap power it's worth looking at anyway, once the sump is off I have a feeling I'll know what is wrong . If the crank is damaged its a new engine time anyway ...

Well there's definately something properly wrong looking at the oil since it was brand new before the event and now is black / metallic silver, engine is almost out just a couple more bolts on the gearbox and the engine mounts to undo :o

Mine doesn't seem to use any oil at all and made sure the level was on the high mark for those steep drops/ side slopes to help with oil starvation. Personally I'd prefer to rebuild than stick a different motor in as I know it's exact condition and reliability is a big thing for me. I'd be...
