The V8i RRC that we took to Morocco had no failures apart from rubbish springs - did not miss a beat. Our RRC is a bit simpler I guess. Cannot vouch for the others :)

Roof rack: We got bored of crappy designs that were supposed to be "overland" spec and we got bored of things breaking off, having to tie things together with ratchet straps etc so we made own own. Surey a bt more than 50 is good for cruising speed? Is the gearing the same on the 2.6?

Yeah I am being a bt of a wuss to be honest, I am normally out regardless of the weather!

I thought the stub axles were all the same fitment up to 1980? apart from some have oil seal runners or distance pieces or whatever they are called (not quite understood why/what that is about perhaps someone could explain?). Military is different i think. Didn't think about the drums...but...

My carb only freezes after driving after a while - so not sure what use the blanket overnight will do if yours is similar? Try pulling choke back out when it stutters. It could well be a blockage...or it could be your carb is worn. Could be a host of other things - coil breaking down, dodgy...

that looks pretty 90truckcab, bet it didnt stay looking like that for long! My lesson with brakes is always use genuine cylinders.

Have you whipped out the plugs and checked that they look "normal"? It could be the carb icing up - physically look at it when it misfires - does it look iced up (perhps might not be visible with yours, someone might correct me on this, but on my Weber I can see it quite clearly when it ices...

The above is assuming the whole car looks like its leaning and not just the body compared to the chassis?

Yeah, agreed, when my front brake cylinder failed it was quite dramatic to say the least.
