    Funding overland travels - let's share idea's!

Just realised I waffled a lot there, sorry about that! Regardless of all that, how we actually fund the majority of our trip is by working hard and saving up money - even for a small trip I have to do this. We have a seperate "rally fund" bank account where we try to put money into regularly so...

    Funding overland travels - let's share idea's!

I have not done a year round trip or anything of the sort and only small trips (London--->Mongolia, London-->Algeria--->London and London-->Morocco-->London (twice)...but this years trip to Morocco we did end up getting quite a lot of support from sponsors. Only from my personal experience...

    RRC 200tdi or series 3 200 di

Corrugations - the trick is to drive as fast as you can (all within reason, of course...as fast as you can in a Series is a bit different to other vehicles!). Then you barely feel them (while the RR feels like the dash or something else will fall out!) On the leafers, I don't think the...

    RRC 200tdi or series 3 200 di

Love overlanding in our Series...with a 2.25 petrol :) But out RRC V8 was an equally good vehicle when we took it to Algeria and back...more comfy on road. But I have to say off road driving at speed I prefer the Series! Especially on our old friend, corrugations.

Sankey Wide Track "Expedition" Trailer Build

The trailer had its first outing at the Peterborough show. Can hardly feel it behind the Range Rover - sits a bit nose down but that is to be expected and not too bad anyway. Got a few more ideas for tweeks, but this is pretty much it so I can stop boring people with this thread :p

Moroccan Rally 2012 - The 4th Rusty Rhinos charity event

replied to above in PM :) Well... the landie stayed in France with a very kind person named Drew who later got our landie part way back to the UK. Meanwhile rebuilt another engine and later whipped over in a friends Disco 3 and picked it up on a trailer. Fitted the engine a few weekends ago...

Sankey Wide Track "Expedition" Trailer Build

Thanks :) yeah - the gas struts we thought were quite cool. They are Suzuki SJ rear door struts - used those because the conections on the end are easy to make a bracket for. Not a neccessity but hey ho :) Sealing of the doors...the two side panels at the front are designed to only have jerry...

Sankey Wide Track "Expedition" Trailer Build

Thanks :-) Not sure what it weighs to be honest. It is still quite easy to pick up on the hitch and manoeuvre about. Should get it weighed I suppose.

Sankey Wide Track "Expedition" Trailer Build

Pretty much there now with only a few minor touches left. Mounting the waffle boards. Some simple brackets made and a hinged bracket on the other side with a padlock. The lids are now lockable. This wasn't in our opinion quite enough to stop the lids bouncing about - reckon the lock will just...

Cool idea. Already placed a quote request from shiply... 645 the best so far. Can't seem to get the right search phrase to get decent results...do any companies spring to mind?

Help, we are stuck in France!

Not sure about the trailer in France...I might have an option there...if you do end up going through France any chance you could send me a PM or reply on here and I can check on the trailer situation in France? Offer much appreciated :-)
