  • Hi all being new to land rovers I have a question I have recentley purchased a freelander 1 1.8 petrol that is operating in 2wd as I purchased like this I have no real idea why the prop had been removed I have sourced a recon viscous coupling locally however I have no idea if this was the problem originally why the prop was removed the car drives superb in 2wd but bought with 4x4 in mind is there any way of determining if the ird unit has a fault without fitting the prop the garage I bought it from gave me the old chestnut that the prop was removed with fuel consumption in mind but didn't have a prop with the vehicle !!! The car is a minter and the price was right so decided to buy and tackle the 4wd problem at a later date as it was a bargain any help or advice anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated there are no noises from gearbox etc when driven but I don't know if this is normal for a 2wd conversion with faulty ird so please could someone help thanks in advance
