Hi al I got a clunking noise between gear change on a 300tdi defender any ideas pls

Hello to all you mad landrover fans i got three so im probley one of the worst.can anyone HELP me i got a rangerover p38 diesal and she is struggaling to start i have noticed she is sucking air up the fuel line as i can see gaps in fuel line from filter to fuel pump as this is clear pipe.I have changed fuel filter and there is no change pls help thanks
