Big problem

i have a R/R dse 1997 with a bmw engine
i was driving along when the oil light came on within half a mile i was slowing down and it cut out i checked the oil and its ok not even low the temperature gauge is normal when it has sat for an hour it will start but only drives slow then cuts out after another couple of miles
HELP

Sounds like oil pump check your oil pressure

Or if you're lucky, a faulty switch.

how do i check the pressure

suck on the sump plug and see if it makes your cheeks blow out

tryed that it did not work so going to try blowing

un nip the bolt on the oil pump and see if it squirts.the one wiv the oil pipe.in fact any connection will do.

check the crank pulley bolt to see if its tight, they have been known to come loose. the oil pump drive is only on a tapper im led to beleive and looses its drive when the bolt comes loose.

thanks yes the bolt was lose not sure how much damage is done i will take the sump off this weekend and see if i can assess the damage

can some one tell me were the timing marks are on the front of the engine and can i lock the pump in place before i take the timing chains off
