Recently bought a Fairey Overdrive off of eBay and noticed the linkage comes through the seat box, I however want my linkage to come through the transmission tunnel, any clues as to why the unit is currently configured this way and what I need to do / purchase to have my overdrive lever coming out the transmission tunnel as per usual?

Sure you've bought a Fairly overdrive and not a centre pto. The centre pto has the operating lever coming out of the seat box. Never seen a Fairy overdrive linkage anywhere else other than exiting from the trans tunnel. Post a pic of the linkage and overdrive so we can see what you have.
