I've purchased a Varta HI1 110ah 920a battery. I have a 2005 Td6.

Is there anything I should be aware of when fitting this new battery?

Anything requiring resetting or calibrating?

Thank you.

Make sure the car shuts down properly before disconnecting, have a cuppa.
Make sure you know how to put the bonnet in service mode.
Oh and dont leave the battery in the boot when you disconnect the battery 🤔. Its not a problem it just means you have to have 2 cups of tea before you can do the job:rolleyes:.

I also dont know if you have to inform the brain of a new battery on that year, if you do it will need diagnostics to do so.

@backinblack should know.

Oh and eat your weetabix they are heavy and not in the easiest of places:).

The bonnet is ready to go into service mode and another pair of hands is ready for the lift.

Do you mean the new battery in the boot or the old one and could you explain why I shouldn't leave it there please?

As above, no battery management but I see you ignored the advice and went for the smaller battery.
If you have a Vogue or one with lot's of extra's fitted the 920a may struggle a little if it's not your daily driver and/or used for short trips.
110ah 920 cold crank was the battery most recommended on three different fora. Several people said it was over powered.

It was my mistake, I left it in the boot and disconnected the battery then couldnt get it out :p, hence I had 2 cups of tea:).

I had a 900a and while it was fine when driven daily it struggled when not used for a week or so. It's now in the boot as a secondary battery.

So the other 3 forums know better yet you're asking us.

Happy to be corrected though.
Obviously not as you have ignored our recommendations. Hopefully you will prove us wrong after it's been fitted for a few months.
