Hey everyone,
one of my rear wheel bearings is on its way out. My next door neighbour is a mechanic and is up for changing it for me. He said he used to be able to get hold of the whole kit with a new bearing already set and ready in a new hub back in the day - but I've not been able to find anything online for a freelander 2 (loads about for disco 2's, etc) - is this (still) a thing? Does anyone know where to get this from?

We were just hoping to avoid it taking longer and him having to take the existing hub into his work etc. Plus this is the second time the bearing has gone on this wheel in the last couple of years, so I was thinking changing the hub would be a good shout anyway.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone knew of this kit anywhere, before we went down the route of separate parts.

Like this ??

Except I see you want rear.

But I don't see how you would press that in without putting the load on the wrong part of the bearing and destroying it in fitting !!
is this not how you do it anyway? You take the hub off to remove an old bearing and press in a new one don't you? So a hub supplied with the bearing already pressed in is the same, you've just cut out the bearing replacing step? Or is this not the case on the Freelander 2?

To fit the bearing you need to press it into the hub carrier by using force on the outer rim only. I can't see how you could do this.

Also after fitting the bearing the FL1 has a circlip to hold it, think the FL2 is the same, not sure how you would fit this if the hub is already in !

Then the hub needs to be pressed into the centre of the bearing while the centre is supported from being to avoid load on the ball bearings during fitting.

What do others think, this combined unit looks like a bad idea and doesn't save any work really.
