Paste or no paste on a new cylinder head gasket 1987 LDV90 19j 2.5td

The Head is away getting skimmed, question is putting gasket paste on the new gasket a good idea? The internet is mixed. Also, I am struggling to get new head bolts, the old ones are in good condition and all measure correct with no stretching. Is it ok to reuse? Not getting the head back till next week, so got time to ask around.

Composite gasket? then no paste or anything else for that matter.

200 TDI head bolts could be reused up to 5 times, so 19j might be the same.
