PLEASE HELP ME FIND THIS DEFENDER 110 - Reg HY06 WZH

Hi All,

This is undoubtedly a long shot, but you never know. . I am trying to find the current owner of this 2006 Defender 110, and am posting this to a few of the main forums in the hope that he/she, or someone familiar with it, may see this.

I sold this Landy 5 years ago. It belonged to my late older brother, who passed away at 29. I had to sell her soon after as we needed the money to help with everything, but now I would like more than anything to somehow buy her back one day. It was a big part of my brother's life and there are so many great memories which I hold on to dearly.

I have been in touch with the person I sold her to, but it has since gone onto two other owners, and have had no joy getting any further. I can't ask the DVLA for this information either so my last resort is to try these forums in the hope it may be spotted by someone familiar with the landy. I have attached a couple of photos.. It has since had an expedition rack fitted, which is probably still on. It was in the Wiltshire/Somerset area, but I'm not sure if this is still the case.

I know the Landy community can be quite special so I thought this worth a go.

Any help or advice is most appreciated.

It's still taxed an MOTd according to the DVLA website:

Its a lovely looking Landy, and sorry to say that if I had it I would not want to part with it, the present owner may be of the same mind.
I was in a similar situation once, I had an estate car and my Defender and thought I would sell both and buy a Volvo XC90 as the XC90 would do both my day to day driving and get me to my shooting spots and I would only have one lot of tax and insurance and m/tce costs.
As soon as the Defender was driven away I regretted selling it. (galvanised chassis TD5 with 16k miles at the time)
Luckily the guy rang me about 6 months later asking if I wanted to buy it back as his job had changed and was driving long distances and needed a car rather than a Defender, I snapped his hand off, I had to go to south Wales to get it back (300 miles from me) I will never part with it again. That was 12 years ago.
Anyway good luck with it.

The dvla used to do a service where they would contact the owner of the a car and pass on your details if you previously owned the car.

I think they still do, it’s then up to the current owner to contact you if they want to.
I guess you might get lucky and they want to sell it, particularly if you offered a good enough price for it.

Thanks for the replies. I have emailed the DVLA and hopefully they can shed some light on this. There is a V888 form where you can request info from them, however it's not a valid reason for the info.

Tell them you have important history and documentation for the vehicle that the new owner might want.

V888 stopped a few years ago, all down to data protection act.

I think they will still contact the new owner on your behalf, of course they won’t reveal the details to you, so it’s up to the current owner to get in touch if they want to.

Yeah they still have the V888 form, and a set of guidelines on how/what information to request. But I can imagine that they won't just give you the details and instead pass it on to the owner

I'm dealing with a vehicle reg problem dvla are not dealing with any requests unless key workers ,hgv etc until further notice doesnt help me here in Portugal and the authorities here are messing me around here for the last 2 years!!...

Unfortunately the dealership changed computer systems and no longer have details of the sale. The DVLA are only working on key worker cases, so hit a dead end for now

I think the V5C logbook number changes with each new owner if (if 1) not then this may help (but not certain). If (if2) you have any documentation from when you were the owner with the V5C number on it then using the MOT history checker view test location enter the details it will give you the last test centre location. (Now another if 3). If that test centre will play ball and speak to the owner of the vehicle (another if coming 4) if he returns to the same test centre for an MOT.
I know the balls have to line up for this to work but just thinking outside the box to help.
