MOT history shows a lot of chassis corrosion and presumably repairs done. Make a great project putting it on a galv chassis if buyer can get a reasonable deal. Not for the faint hearted though.

Why would you bother though?! Pretty much every panel is fcuked, rear door fcuked, cross member fcuked, chassis is probably fcuked and full of filler. Bulkhead doesn’t look promising. Probably leaks like a sieve which would’ve eaten bulkhead seam...

6k is a lot for some seats

It shows how bad they can get if not looked after at all.
It’s not that old, advert says “one owner”, makes you wonder what the owner thought when he looked at his Land Rover?

It's almost as if someone's taken off all the checker plate..... you don't normally see them that corroded on bodywork..... I guess maybe that's the reason they out checker plate on ..

The bodywork is by far the worst l’ve seen on a TD5

There were a few Defenders that worked down a salt mine somewhere in the UK.

One of the LR magazines took one on and had to completely rebuild it. l wonder if this was one of those.

Think the registration number is Scottish. Dog guard in the back. Probably been used on a farm all its life, farmyard muck never cleaned out of all the places it clogs up. I still think its a great project if it can be got at a better price ----. Somebody with the time, money and space to do it up will get it.

I wonder if they will take mine part-ex?

it’s the bloody cost of those panels isn’t it. I think if your were skilled in tig and bodywork you’d be on yo a winner, especially if it’s been looked after mechanically. I reckon you’d still hit 14k quite fast which you’d pay for a smart one anyway?

Its not always about making money. Enthusiasts do it for the pleasure and satisfaction. Normally only dealers make money on them - at least thats my philosophy.

Yes mine too, my Defender currently owes me around £24,000
And it’s worth nowhere near that amount. I use it for my business, and despite those figures and the higher fuel consumption (not THAT much higher than my Transit Connect was tbh, about 5mpg)
It’s been a much better option financially than buying/leasing a new van.

I did similar. I run mine for business use and get car allowance but no restrictions on what I run other than ‘make sure it fits in at the clients car park’.
I ran a beautiful car before my last pickup, however, full service on my td5 costs me 60 rather than 350 lol. Biggest thing is fenders don’t bleed money on your drive!

After spending last two years on my project now way in hell would I buy another dog unless it was a series. Couldn’t ever buy something like the 110 in op. It would break my spirit. Maybe that’s because I’m typing this with hands covered with spatter scars lol

If yours only owes you that much you either haven't had it long enough or haven't one enough work on it .
The last time I was bored and though it would be a good idea to see how much it had cost me I gave up adding up the receipts when I got to 20k and that was about halfway through my service file!

I’ve had it five years and done 60,000 miles but it was a good one when l got it in 2014 although already nine years old.
It’s actually been the most reliable work vehicle l have owned, it’s never broken down or left me stranded.

There's your problem, buying a good one to start with is cheating! You should have bought the first one you saw with an mot that was in budget because it was what you had always wanted. £1800, 19 years old, with an mot from someone who I am guessing had never seen the vehicle, bought blind off ebay, the only way to by a Land Rover. But 12 years later and 220k miles I do not regret it or begrudge a penny spent one it.
