So if I want to change 50% (12 litres of fluid in the system) of the fluid is it better to drains say 2 litres, fill, run, drain 2 litres, fill run, drain, drain 2 litres, fill run change filter and refill ? ( this will obviously not change 50% due to dilution) I suppose I'm asking where in the sequence is best to change the filter
nothing in my owners manual or Rave associated with this

Better to drain as much as possible IMO and change the filter at the same time, then a further change of fluid after a few hundred miles.

As Data said, drain plug out, let it drain, sump off then let it drain again for as long as possible.
Rebuild and refill following the proper refill procedure.

what model L322 do you have?

If it is 2006+ it requres a specific fluid, you can't just lob any old crap in..

Oh the 2002-2005 5hp24 also require special fluid..

Info etc etc
