Probably depends on what sort of engine you have.
Modern Tdci etc should be fine on modern fuel.
If you have old diesel from last century, pump lubrication could be an issue, so lubricity additive may help pump life.
Injector cleaner may help is you have a very filthy fuel system, shouldn't be needed if not.
Multi action additives are quite good, I use Ecomax in my old tractors and landrover, supposed to help with pump lubrication.

Liquidmoly is what I used, bloody good stuff, pricey though

2 tanks full of Diesel V power Nitro in the summer and two in the winter keeps mine quite sweet.

I find Miller's helps the old 12J.

When I broke down (suprise suprise) the AA man told me about some stuff you only get in Ireland but I'm ****ed if I remember what it was.

Might work better in petrol!

I use Millers in my 200tdi. The engine runs smoother and quieter with it in the tank, I've never been bothered to work out if it helps with mpg.

Vegi oil in the summer!!!
Plus,
Two stroke oil, 200ml in each half tank of diesel, I've found it works for me, less smoke, less noise, smoother running. (200TDI 110).
Much cheaper than the other additives, but may well not be as good as stuff like Millars.

My 300tdi is loads quieter after using Millers Ecomax for the last 8 months or so. Even my dad who's fairly hard of hearing tells me it sounds a lot quieter.

This stuff is supposed to be really got, I know a few people that add it to old lister stationery engines they feel it makes the engine run quieter at shows and just keeps the engine internals cleaner.

I've not used it so I don't know, I've got the 2.4 tdci with all the engine management stuff on the engine I'm reluctant to add anything to the fuel. Plus it's expensive.

The additive in shell that cleans the carbon is polyetheramine

redex and cheap types is polybutylamine

Redex took 8 tanks to clear sticking valves, so is not a one shot application.

If you are looking for MPG gain you can:
1cetane booster
2clean carbon deposits
3reduce friction
