that's the same DC-100 crap that they speculated about ages ago!!! it says "this is how it COULD look" in the report.... it's just a LWB dc-100.

Same old stuff from autocar, trying to hide the fact that they haven't learnt anything new about it

What ever happens I'll be keeping mine. Seems to be solid enough (now i've fixed it )

If we go by that pic they have no plans to change the roof rack then except remove the bit which says Land Rover in the middle...

Total heap! But I bet it sells well... The evoke has sold pretty well and the Freelander/Disco abortion has also done pretty well I'm told...

It's worth mentioning that so far nothing official has been released from Land Rover. Unless you count the 'image in the sand' stunt done a few months ago that doesn't look much like the current model...

Thats no defender. Its got no rust

Although I live on Bodmin Moor, I'm currently on holiday in Mid Wales (sort of home from home, but different accents and a lot more sheep)

It's such a shame to see that the only Defenders are old ones and the only new, or vaguely new, farm vehicles are quads or slitties (can I still say that?!). There's one outside the Cafe now, being washed (like he's actually proud of it) and there's an agricultural supplier down the road with a forecourt full of the darn things. Good grief, there's even a BMW X3 around the back and it seems to belong to the Cafe owners.

Roll on something modern that can compete with these things directly but, somehow, I reckon they may have abandoned that market for good. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Either way, I look forward to seeing the real thing when we finally get genuine pictures.

No doubt some people will be upset when they find the new one can't be mended with a brick and a piece of string, but you just can't make a car that way any more. Doesn't stop you from making a proper utility vehicle meant to 'do stuff' though.

I agree, I love my Landies, but every now and then my dealer gives me a hippo2 as a courtesy car when the 110 is in. And it is fun having all the modern driver distractions etc.

Those of us who are slightly maturer then the rest will have been cursing Land Rovers lack of development for decades. Lets face it the last significant upgrade to the vehicle and space was 1958 when the s2 body was released that is still in use today!

Land Rover only care about the heritage for marketing, they don't actually care about the old cars.

The truth is in the sales figures, the Defender is no longer viable in its current form, n7mbers wise it barely shifts 1800 units a year.

It has to be a new car that addresses the modern world. A car that can be sold in the modern markets where the money is.

I Must actually quite excited about what they will produce,, I have toyed with buying one of the last Defenders but actually going to wait and should be in a position to buy a new one in 2018.

That should give me enough time to rebuild the S3 at the bottom of the garden. The TD5 should also be just about run in by then

Try fixing the body on that with a sheet of Alloy and a pop rivet gun
according to French motoring press, the Defender will continue in production either in China or Mexico but will not be imported to Europe.
