Hi guys, thinking of upgrading security on the defender and wondering everyones personal views, superdooper alarm system with all the bells and whistles or a good tracker??

Please Please Please

Use the search function Security has been covered probably over 15.6squillion times!!

However because i dont like to moan and not give advice.

the general consensus seems to be as a minimum:
1. Thatcham Approved Alarm + Immobilsier
2. Proper DiskLok
3. Wheels parked on full lock.

Alarm and immobiliser, properly stickered and vibration sensitive helps as a deterent, tracker helps find it - so they have different purposes. Given the choice I`d rather stop somebody pinching my car than get a phone call with some gps coordinates telling me its been pinched.

L2 grenade - you might encore a tadge of damage but not as much as the thief will when he gets 170g of RDX tnt. If not try a wheel lock (highly visable) and a clutch claw.

I dont rate the clutch claws thay can be beaten.
As they say a good alarm/imobilizer will stop most thieves, but if they want to steal it they can. cos tbh it is a piece of **** to bypass a cat 1 imobilizer on an older defender (TDI)
A tracker will get it recovered but the thieves are getting fly to this and a re using jammers to block the trackers working.

My personall choice is the CAT 1 alarm and imobilizer, the bad guys dont like noisey cars with flashing lights and they certanily wouldnt like the sight of me in my shorts running at them(17 stone martial arts expert) with a bat in my hand.

If someone wants to steal your landy they will find a way just make it as difficult as possible for them. So they will pick on a less secure one

that kinda discount gives folks the impression that the normal price is a right rip off
