Get someone to rev the engine and you keep your head under bonnet to see if you can spot what is loose, also as mentioned above do the same but underneath. Mind the hot pipes though ;)

Ok thanks mate - I found a second hand one locally for €100 comes with intercooler too, sounds like good value. Any idea on what is best coolant? Any cheap one or maybe some preferred one?

I did a search and found several threads on the subject of 300tdi overheating but the fun I am having with my 300tdi is I think it is overheating just a little bit. ;) I had a look last night in the expansion tank and at least the water is moving there so doesn't look like a water pump...

The whistling sounds like the turbo spinning up and it may be causing something to knock, check for usual loose bolts?

I have a 300tdi in mine with an LT77 as well. I didn't fit it myself but a mate did. The only issue I have is the rubber hose for the air filter fouls the bonnet so it a bit of a bodge. The LT77 does scream a little when you hit 60mph(ish) runs better at the 50mph. There will be a load of room...
