Just revisiting this idea. To accommodate the comments made, proposing Saturday 13th September. Again, if there are enough 👍then I will do some planning.
  • xDParis64
Solid yes if mine works by then... considering most of it is / is going to be custom it would be nice to show off :p

Hi Saxavordian and GrumpyGel and all the others who have taken the time to reply.By the way that Nissan Juke was not for me. We presently run a 2003 Freelander Serengeti which suits us both including easyish access getting in and out for my wife...

Just a word of warning, please don't make more than 1 post on the same matter, if no-one has replied to your current post, wait, or reply to your current post but if no one replies, it is quite likely those that have seen it don't know

I do not, however, there is a good 'ol way to test a fuel pump (not a definitive test) but have someone start it and gently but firmly tap the top of it with a hammer, like a starter motor and see if it continues to idle, if it does, I would...

Yeh, but both have a 750kg unbraked towing capacity.

It may not prime every key turn unless it's not been primed for a while, it will also not prime constantly, It will only be for a short period. Try pressing the button in the top right of the engine bay, it sits at the top of the firewall, spent...

As for physical disabilities I would say no for Evoque or Freelander. 1. Unless you invest in adapting access and de access to front passenger seat and frame. 2. Are you physically capable of lifting your partner from seating to and from...

I don't have an F2, but I do have a Petrol Juke, Don't... They are not nearly as big as they seem! Tiny little things, I am simply keeping mine alive so I don't have to buy another car, Insurance at 21 is horrid, 3 cars is all I can do!

Also tidied up the bonnet lettering which was looking a bit tired with some vinyl wrap.

Finally got round to respraying the roof. Rattle can job, took it back to bare metal and went for it. Did the roof bars and end caps as well. Not perfect, but happy for a first attempt and should keep it protected for a few more years.

Unrelated but I always wanted a red one 🤤
  • xDParis64
No the 'in gear' bit is not correct. The four wheels are connected together by differentials IRD and propshaft. The gearbox connects the engine to the whole lot. One wheel up passes all the torque through the rear diff then the VCU and ends with...
  • xDParis64
Ah! I see. Must've meant when I first tried the OWUT I must've had more than 1 wheel up 😂 , because it spun freely for me unless it was in gear at which point it would not spin freely because 5kg is not enough to spin 1st gear.
  • xDParis64
All back together, wheels spinning freely, foot brakes and handbrake work, and everything frees off when released. All good, job done thank you. I can only put it down to the order I did it last time that messed it up, or maybe not enough of a...

Spring looks good, if it wasn't being stretched / if the spring had no gaps between coils it would be an issue. But compared to my one, that looks fine. Good Luck!
  • xDParis64
Best I could do regarding pictures of that spring. It looks well to my eye. Going to try and reassemble now. Wish me luck. One thought I have had in all of this, at least the VCU concern has been forgotten 😊 Although I will do the test...
  • xDParis64
All looks to be assembled correctly. As I've said I'd have concern for this spring: I can't tell if it's damaged from here, but if you were able to adjust the handbrake and pump the footbrake without causing issues then I should imagine maybe it...

Sounds like a battery issue... Possibly a loose negative cable? check for loose ground cables and clean and reinstall the ones you can :) EDIT: Battery related issue, If the battery is not dying I doubt it is an issue directly with the battery.
  • xDParis64
My place test it by putting the car on a slight incline and test how it rolls down the incline. Rather ancient method though!
  • xDParis64
When looking around, I noted that the shocks are in length between (on my model) between 401mm (Fully compressed) and 600mm (Fully unloaded) It would require some testing with spring rates to find something that would mimic a 20mm - 30 mm lift...
  • xDParis64
I have found very little in the way of suspension or off road upgrades for the Freelander. Are you really sure a longer spring will give more travel? I'd have thought it was the strut that would determine how much droop there is. A longer spring...

For more height and spring rate, the springs from an AC equipped TD4.
  • xDParis64
Not sure if mine looked like that at the handbrake, maybe there is something else going on here, but from the sounds of it, I am 99% sure that issue lays with the adjuster, with a flashlight and flathead screwdriver you can slacken the tension...

I have found: https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/products/monroe-sp3276-coil-spring-for-land-rover-freelander-i-off-road-l314 Which seem to provide a 40mm lift to the springs 🤔 Never heard of Monroe though!
  • xDParis64
VCU is starting to get tight when reversing at full lock 😭 I keep almost stalling it reverse parking when suddenly I go full lock and it all of a sudden gets super tight 😂 Guess I know what that means is in store for me...
  • xDParis64
Ah yes! I saw these a while ago, but it looks like they stopped developing them and only have the fronts left in stock, I will shoot them an email to see if they are available upon request :)
  • xDParis64
I think @htr used springs from this outfit... https://dobinsons.com/ On their site, they quote a 30mm lift (more travel?) but I'm sure @htr said he got 20mm.
  • xDParis64
Absolutely free way to lift suspension. Take all unnecessary components off and up it goes ! Biggest difference was made when the insulation tape was taken off the wiring loom. Have a great DAY 👍 See photos. .
