Ah! I see. Must've meant when I first tried the OWUT I must've had more than 1 wheel up 😂 , because it spun freely for me unless it was in gear at which point it would not spin freely because 5kg is not enough to spin 1st gear.
All back together, wheels spinning freely, foot brakes and handbrake work, and everything frees off when released.
All good, job done thank you.
I can only put it down to the order I did it last time that messed it up, or maybe not enough of a...
Spring looks good, if it wasn't being stretched / if the spring had no gaps between coils it would be an issue. But compared to my one, that looks fine.
Good Luck!
Best I could do regarding pictures of that spring.
It looks well to my eye.
Going to try and reassemble now.
Wish me luck.
One thought I have had in all of this, at least the VCU concern has been forgotten 😊
Although I will do the test...
All looks to be assembled correctly. As I've said I'd have concern for this spring:
I can't tell if it's damaged from here, but if you were able to adjust the handbrake and pump the footbrake without causing issues then I should imagine maybe it...
Sounds like a battery issue... Possibly a loose negative cable? check for loose ground cables and clean and reinstall the ones you can :)
EDIT: Battery related issue, If the battery is not dying I doubt it is an issue directly with the battery.
When looking around, I noted that the shocks are in length between (on my model) between 401mm (Fully compressed) and 600mm (Fully unloaded)
It would require some testing with spring rates to find something that would mimic a 20mm - 30 mm lift...
I have found very little in the way of suspension or off road upgrades for the Freelander.
Are you really sure a longer spring will give more travel? I'd have thought it was the strut that would determine how much droop there is. A longer spring...
Not sure if mine looked like that at the handbrake, maybe there is something else going on here, but from the sounds of it, I am 99% sure that issue lays with the adjuster, with a flashlight and flathead screwdriver you can slacken the tension...
I have found: https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/products/monroe-sp3276-coil-spring-for-land-rover-freelander-i-off-road-l314 Which seem to provide a 40mm lift to the springs 🤔
Never heard of Monroe though!
VCU is starting to get tight when reversing at full lock 😭 I keep almost stalling it reverse parking when suddenly I go full lock and it all of a sudden gets super tight 😂 Guess I know what that means is in store for me...
Ah yes! I saw these a while ago, but it looks like they stopped developing them and only have the fronts left in stock, I will shoot them an email to see if they are available upon request :)
I think @htr used springs from this outfit...
https://dobinsons.com/
On their site, they quote a 30mm lift (more travel?) but I'm sure @htr said he got 20mm.
Absolutely free way to lift suspension.
Take all unnecessary components off and up it goes !
Biggest difference was made when the insulation tape was taken off the wiring loom.
Have a great DAY 👍
See photos.

Hey all!
I've been looking ALOT for some better suspension upgrades for off-road for the my '00 Freelander 1 1.8 but honestly I can find NOTHING, other than MM Lift kit which I already have and the stock suspension. I realise for the MacPherson...
