I'd say that what you can see and think are valve cut outs are the shadows or actual valves standing open looking like they overlap the bright ring. The bright ring could be the top piston ring if these are the actual valves rather than cut outs...

That's looking down at the piston through the spark plug hole, that is the piston itself. Inlet manifold can let water in? as in just water like rain and puddles or coolant? I replaced the gasket when replacing the engine so it should be okay but...

Excuse my incompetence... Shiny Fire Ring? I didn't think any of the HG sat over the piston/cylinder I take it you mean the Ring that sits on the edge of the HG:

Hey! As per usual I am having issues, at this point I work on this car for mechanical experience and not for the economic value 😂 Though recently the engine has been drinking coolant so I think it's going to need a HG so I ran a compression...

With no MOT i can't bring it down unfortunately, though I appreciate the offer, tried to bleed the brakes today but they won't? No air is coming out but the pedal goes to the floor and there are no leaks so super confused on that point but that's...

Is that up to 2001 ?? In which case MOT man is wrong and no EML on pre 2001 petrol.

The dash display will be a part shared between petrol and diesel models. This could cause confusion because the petrols probably still have the MIL there with the MIL icon, but it isn't used. Additionally confusing because it has the ODB-11...

Guess once the MOT is done I will get looking into why that doesn't work, much like all other cars I've owned it should show when I turn the key to the accessory position right?

I'm pretty sure my 50th anniversary 1.8k had an EML. It uses MEMs 1.9, which does have the facility to output EML requests. It's not OBD2 compliant though, although it does have a connector that looks like an OBD2 port.

How interesting... Mine is a 50th anniversary 1.8k so I should imagine then it does have an EML, the car has a slight misfire, I should imagine that would show the EML? I don't have a P-Scan yet :(

It's harder to prove something doesn't exist than that it does. I would assume any MOT would know of the cut-off years for various features. I tried looking at the RAVE, but I wasn't able to find anything regarding this(it's a bit out of scope)...
  • xDParis64
Hey all! Thought I would ask for everyone's opinions as recently my MOT place was super confused as they think my EML has been blanked? Now... I thought that because this car F1 1.8 2000 is technically before the OBD-2 Requirement it does not...

Ever since I got my 2003 TD4 Sport, the turbo lets out a growl or a rasping noise when it is working, say when the car changes down on a hill and the turbo comes in again. At 53k miles, I didn't think it was a turbo bearing, now at 68k it has...

Maybe Landrover thought let's switch it up for LHD models and use imperial, they've not really been known for thinking intelligently 😂
  • xDParis64
Personally I used all metric on my 1.8 engine swap, but even then most imperial have a slight crossover in sizes so to me it realy doesn't matter just use the right size 🤷‍♂️
