I have found: https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/products/monroe-sp3276-coil-spring-for-land-rover-freelander-i-off-road-l314 Which seem to provide a 40mm lift to the springs 🤔
Never heard of Monroe though!
VCU is starting to get tight when reversing at full lock 😭 I keep almost stalling it reverse parking when suddenly I go full lock and it all of a sudden gets super tight 😂 Guess I know what that means is in store for me...
Ah yes! I saw these a while ago, but it looks like they stopped developing them and only have the fronts left in stock, I will shoot them an email to see if they are available upon request :)
I think @htr used springs from this outfit...
https://dobinsons.com/
On their site, they quote a 30mm lift (more travel?) but I'm sure @htr said he got 20mm.
Absolutely free way to lift suspension.
Take all unnecessary components off and up it goes !
Biggest difference was made when the insulation tape was taken off the wiring loom.
Have a great DAY 👍

Hey all!
I've been looking ALOT for some better suspension upgrades for off-road for the my '00 Freelander 1 1.8 but honestly I can find NOTHING, other than MM Lift kit which I already have and the stock suspension. I realise for the MacPherson...
This is true, but it won't be 'freely' because it will also need to turn all the props, 2 diffs and another wheel. So it won't be like spinning the wheel on a 'normal' car, but it will turn quite freely.
Mine only happened when I also removed it replacing the drum brakes, it was not obvious until after I test drove the car and the nearside rear was smoking and my brand new shiny drum was Yellow!
When manually adjusted the wheel spin freely until...
I am personally a pairs person, if one thing is broken and it has the same thing on the other side, just do both.
Anything that comes in pairs or more, just do them all and if you can't do a pair, You'll find its easier to do the second one...
VCU is a good first check.
Although a cheaper check though harder check, I would prefer to do is the auto-adjuster on the drums at the back. the spring that holds them in the right place and allows them to work without adjusting to the max each...
Ok found the time to do the job, easy with your excellent instructions, thank you. That Y piece had been 'siliconed' to the block presumably to try and stop the leak. Cleaned it all up and refitted the replacement. It still leaks!!!
However, I...
Thank you,
I plan once the master is rebuilt to fully bleed them again with a pressure bleeder on the master instead of the 2 people method. With no ABS there really shouldn't be any issues!
I should imagine it is advised/required I bench bleed...
Never had any success with that methond on any car. 2 person method for me is:
1) open bleed valve & assistant pushes pedal steadily to floor & hold.
2) close bleed valve & assistant releases pedal.
3) repeat 1 & 2 until no bubbles on fluid...
Couldn't even get the bolts undone on the wheel speed sensors, let alone clean them. Instead I disassembled the brake light switch and cleaned that which had the same result of finally making the two amigos bugger off.
I also went on a side...
Thank you.
Have since removed the master from the car and "un-built" it 😅 Following removal it looks like the seal for the fill under the actual container was very cracked leaking and just falling to bits, some other seals were good and others...
Long time lurker, first time poster: Cleaned all the contacts on the numberplate light to make it work again - Bloody thing failed my MOT! Next job, clean all the wheel speed sensors and disks in the hope that I won't have to replace any.
Cheers guys! Thanks for the input, turned out it where indeed the engine mounts that took a hit with all the roads here (unfortunately not on stock). CV joints checked and regreased. So good to continue at least with some vibrations :)
Cocktails...
Well I for once have good news, means I'm a bit of a moron, but that isn't new information.
I was removing the inlet manifold today when I noticed a stud was without a nut.... I asked if someone had taken it off to a resounding... no... That's...
Not experienced it myself, but I think in these instances it is usually the master that has gone and needs replacing. Summat might of happened when it ran out of fluid.
With no ABS, its a very simple setup and nothing really between master and...
Hey all! again!
I know I have quite a few posts, I just want to keep all issues separate for tracking, I will be sure to update all posts when and if they are solved.
I want to start with I know how to bleed brakes and I have done on this car...
Thank you both, really helpful! that means I am to replace the gasket and O2 Sensor coming soon, I will be sure to update here on the news, I should imagine then to replace the gasket the coolant needs to come out?
Yes, the rear head coolant bleed passes through the manifold, simply because the manifold is in the way. The seal of the manifold fails in time, allowing the coolant to enter cylinder No 1 while the engine is running, because the manifold is...
In the plastic inlet manifold on the left hand side [as you look at the motor] there is a jiggle valve - a small diameter pipe leaves the manifold by the engine oil dipstick and connects to the coolant tank. The plastic manifold can warp... or be...
You'll have to forgive my innocence and stupidity, how does the inlet let coolant in? Does a coolant jacket / coolant galley run past/ through the inlet manifold? But even then, in my brain it would enter the combustion chamber and steam clean...
As Andy said, the shiny ring is the top ring visible in the gap between the piston and bore.
If there's no coolant connection in the oil, then it's unlikely to be a HG. If the inlet manifold seal is allowing coolant past, then it's likely to go...
