Hello everyone! Looking for some information and input really.
As a spin off from - https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/unable-to-bleed-brakes.398398
I've recently learned about the Brake Bias Valve, also known by many names ("Brake...
Well been busy replacing front end entire running gear and recon wheels
Replaced the following both sides front
Track control arm and gaiter
Track rod end
Shock and top mount
Spring
Wishbone
Ball joint
Wheel bearing
Steering knuckle
Abs sensor...
Yeah I was going to do this, but if this doesn't work I have a feeling I will have another spin off thread about custom Proportional Valves on this car too  😂
No biggie! Thank you for checking
Sorry, never even seen one !!
As you have no ABS they are a bit special.
Unlikely to be faulty but why not crack the pipes and bleed at that point then reconnect and bleed. See if they have an air lock.
This whole saga is a mystery.
@andyfreelandy I don't suppose you have any Proportioning Valves from the Freelander laying around?
It could be the valves in there are failing and letting air move around? Honestly grasping at straws here 😂
No ABS module on mine, only part I have not really replaced / inspected is the Bias valve, I wonder if air could get trapped in there?
I've tried to bleed it with both a pressure bleeder that I run at about 20 PSI constantly and using the foot...
Well here we are again!
News is news, still thought I'd update here.
My thought with the lack of pedal was seized caliper guide pins, which after taking off both calipers, 2 of 4 were incredibly seized and 1 mildly seized, the last one...
Manged to replace the front calipers in hopes that fixes the lack of brake pedal... 3 of 4 guide pins were seized but yet after removal clean and reassembly the brakes still super spongy... there'll be more explaining in my dedicated thread...
Only key fob left finally died... and I mean it died no battery replacement fixed it, I've been meaning to replace it for a while now...
Only noticed when I unlocked the drivers door went to open the bonnet because its a land rover at heart and...
New vented, grooved discs fitted. Ceramic grease where needed. All brake dust cleaned out. Wheels cleaned too !!
See how it goes. Was quiet on test drive. Need to bed them in for a few hundred miles.
From a completely unscientific, uneducated, uniformed, but ocd point of view, that looks like it should go on the off side to me. It would appear back to front on the near side I reckon.
Well aren't the slopes there for water displacement as well as heat dissipation?
I would in that case follow the way car and motorcycle tyre tread considering they rotate in the same direction.
So to the rear of the car would make sense to me...
Battery tested. It's duff. Just gone to get a new one and tried to fit it. That's not gone so well. I have the old favourite of the clamp bolt not coming out due to the captive nut spinning. Chuffing thing
Indeed both me and the car are abs-less
I'll be with it this weekend, along with checking the front caliper guide pins too so will check this and report back :)
I haven't checked them no, but they've been replaced with stainless steel ones from pioneer so I should imagine they are fine.
The hand brake had been a little weird, it seems very... tight, when I drive with it off sometimes going over bumps...
