    Help! Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

It’s definitely not the alternator. However, on another thread a kindly fellow suggested it might be a fault in the ignition circuit so to isolate it I ran a direct connection from the battery through a switch in the cab to the solenoid. So far she has run very well over several long journeys...

    Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

So it is a Bosch coil - brand new. Fitted to the bulkhead in the same manner as the one it replaced. No instructions but the clamping bracket mounting holes in the bulk head orientate the coil as it is - I would have to drill new mounting holes to fix it vertically. Anyway - seems to be...

    Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

So here’s a pic of the engine compartment - you can clearly see the bypass I’ve fired from the battery to the coil. Also attached is a pic of the in-line fuel filter immediately after the last stall.

    Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

Ok so I fixed a direct line from battery to coil and took her for a spin for 45 minutes yesterday. Up and down hills, on the flat and on rough tracks she seemed to perform pretty much ok though I think she’s still struggling a bit under pressure in 4th. But no stalls. So - plan is to keep it...

    Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

Thanks for the advice. I don’t think it’s fuel - the entire fuel system has either been replaced or serviced. The last time it stalled and stopped there was clearly fuel in the glass filter just before it goes into the carb. Also after waiting just a few minutes she starts straight away and...

    Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

That sounds like a good idea - at least it would isolate a likely wiring fault. Any idea how to do that safely?

    Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

No - its a standard Weber 34 ICH which I've already taken apart and serviced with new jets and gaskets. I'm going to have another go tomorrow at adjusting the volume and fast idle screws just to make sure the inlet manifold isn't choking with a rich mixture - but I really doubt that's the...

    Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

That's helpful thank you. Mine's a Series 3 but a quick glance through this shows a couple of maintenance actions that could still be done....

    Hi I’m New

Here's a few pics: I got her from a guy who had put her on a galvanised chassis and fitted power steering. For some reason he fitted what looks like a Series 2 front grill. Looks odd but it's ok! I've spent a lot of time and dosh rectifying a range of issues and she's run well for most of...

    Help! Series 3 Intermittent Stalling

(Posted also on Series Forum) OK so this is an intermittent problem where my 1979 Landy Series 3 just splutters and dies. It has been going on for over a year but is now becoming more frequent. Before I ask for advice: I’ve replaced the fuel tank, checked breathers and filters, replaced the fuel...
