I'm going to split it that's it decided on that advice at least you can see what sort of life span this engine has had and any traces of overheating and check the liners for any evidence and can change hg cheers nodge68

Hi looking for advice and your thoughts I have a whole second hand engine, should I swap whole engine that's perfectly timed into freelander and take out my bottom end , or split used engine and use cylinder head onto my own bottom half which is still in car and rebuild with new hg second hand...

Tried aimlessly to free up crankshaft and to no evail could get it to line up or budge so set about stripping head down and fearing the worst that the valves were stopping crankshaft turning and suprise suprise I've found the problem 4 broken valve stems ...........Down but not out never give...

Could it cause any engine damage ie pistons hitting valves or is it just a case of stripping down aligning crank pully and cam pulleys re fit timing belt and trying to start new belt was fitted with new water pump with engine rebuild and head gasket done only September had a few months repair...

Timing belt so loose and been jumping after noticing when cranking

Oh just been doing more investigating plugs in correct sequence took timing belt cover off tried turning over looks like like timing belt has been jumping and very loose when cranking what would cause it to become so loose everything is out timing wise ..........
