***TD5 retro-fitted to Series model Land Rover***

i am told that the 200tdi will bolt to the series box as a direct fit. but quite frankly if you have the whole car, you may aswell fit the 200tdi box into the 2a wholesale, along with the engine. i like the idea of the 200tdi as it is simple and older (thus hopefully cheaper) and with no...

***TD5 retro-fitted to Series model Land Rover***

i was thinking originally a TD5, but came across information that the 200tdi engine works in a series. i will quickly add, i have no prior knowledge of landy modifying or conversion work, but i have always been very keen on cars in general and have had alot of fast/tuned cars. therefore i am not...

***TD5 retro-fitted to Series model Land Rover***

ok after a bit of research i see that the driver side mount needs altering and that you can buy an exhaust to suit the conversion from Steve Parker, or you can modify your own. then its a case of finding the best way to mount the rad and the intercooler. apparently the 200 tdi engine bolts...

***TD5 retro-fitted to Series model Land Rover***

I had an idea that i would get hold of a decent series cahssis (2, 2a, 3) and retro fit the engine, gearbox, managment and anything else i could get away with from a Discovery.:) Has anyone done this and what pitfalls can i expect to encounter? Cheers, Weave

Thanks Lads - not actualy ready to buy a car yet. TBH i am a performance car enthusiast, but i love all motors with soul. i was posting recently about a series 2a landy that i saw, but it turned out to be too much money. sonce then my attentions have turned towards a decent towing...

    high miles

thats useful advice - what exactly are the blend motors? not offay with range rovers at all. gonna be looking at over 80k then by the looks of things. i did see a t-reg 99 model, with 59k on it for 9k however - thought that seemed like decently low miles and a reasonable price. or at these...

    high miles

what are the mid to late nineties range rover dse engines like with high miles? indeed, generally when you get above 80k, what is the things to look out for on these motors? its either a case of buying a 1995-1997 car between 6-7k and 80k miles +, or i buy a 1998-2000 model for 7-10k...

funny you should say that - i offered him exactly that and he looked none to impressed! :D starting to get a bit dis-heatened and thinking maybe this is not the motor for us. plus i have got a gearbox to rebuild in the rally car, so may pass this one up and if its still hanging around in a few...

    Buying information req'd pls

cheers guys. it is the model i want - well its either that or a series 1, but they are too pricey. it is a bit more thatn i planned to spend, but its worth getting something decent in the first place. the guy wants 1800 quid with the canvas top (brand new) and sticks. its certainly...

i think the guy knows this and will be keen to hold out for a decent price. the scarcity of truly solid chassis's are what will command the premium at the end of the day. tbh i cant think of a reason other than pride that is stopping me shelling out the extra couple of hundred quid for the motor.

i already have plenty of holes WP! i have a mk1 rs2000 ford escort rally car! i have had highly modified jap rockets too - subaru impreza and mitsubishi evo 5 - they are pretty good at draining cash also! the thing with this landy is that where it is so clean underneath and the fact...
