So bit of an update... finally got bottom of what I believe the issue was but still a long way from solution... The whole issue seems to be steering lock related, made worse by the first garage damaged the key and replaced the casing without informing any one and some how they forgot to move...

It is a diesel I should have mentioned that - key is not turning at all - I have even tried a string lock emulator which doesn't allow the key to be turned the key is bit damaged so will try and open it up to check if transponder chip is there
