Made the mistake of thinking a 2 minute job of tightening a weeping radiator top hose bleed screw would only take 2 mins.....
Screw sheared off and when 'manipulated' fell in! However due to 3 weeks prediction of getting one here (replacement top hose) at a cost of nearly £100 decided to make...

Ignition crashed.... spent the day removing the barrel and trying to find a replacement a new keyed barrel to the VIN priced at $1300!!!!
Inspiration gained!!! Stripped barrel and re-tuned 2 springs which weren't performing.....
Re fitted and hopefully bought some time to track down a...

Well, not had a gearbox from them but bought a CDL kit for the Disco....
I fitted the said item and for those who have gone before know it is a painful progress!
I finally got everything re riveted and started to tighten up the 4 frame bolts.. I was rather dismayed to have 2 shear off...

Fitted a nice new set of leather boots for the handbrake and diff selector...
Looking online for a cheap ignition barrel as mine is fading fast!....

Removed centre console and plumbed in the wiring for a rechargeable maglite.
Removed ash tray/ drinks holder and fitted a 3 switch holder...(arb type) in place of ash tray.
Made up a mounting bracket for air compressor, removed battery tray set up and 'adjusted' tray for fitting of air...

I feel that it would be a well placed message of Love to members of this forum if you could secure us a fabulous rate for the purchase of Optima batteries.:)
In this way others may sample these batteries and see for themselves...
Also if you could source a cheap supplier for us...

Good point... except we are a tad short on Halfords out this way... And I would rather a battery not fail on me as opposed to growing old gracefully!There are vast areas where a recovery won't happen, as it was it took just under 2 weeks to get a battery with spec close to original and a bit to...

I see what you mean about the Blue lower down, BUT, it is £274 !!!! as opposed to the Red Top available from Paddocks with a similar but non-marine spec for £125+vat.:rolleyes:
You are right it is expensive BUT you get what you pay for....
I am happy to pay the extra 'insurance' this...

Not according to the Vbat site: according to them the Blue top have a CCA of 785 and 50amp/hr, as opposed to the Red top at 815 cca.
I Wont bother mentioning scrolling down the page on the Vbat site then.............:rolleyes:
Optima blue top come in a number of specs to suit various...

Basically a hardier version of the yellow. The specs of 900cca, 75ah, 155rc are the same. The internal resistance is less than most batteries at half their output..... A tad heavy as they are lead coiled ...But the blue is a marine rated battery which means high...

A) Emptied the back end out and measured up for my cargo drawer plans....
B) Cut the carpet and removed the cargo tie down hoop thingies...
C) Removed the R/N/S cargo box....

No not really, just gotta learn to lean a bit to the left and reach around!!! A very minor hassle compared to the bigger hassle of not having a decent bottle holder... Pre holder the Wife kept getting ideas when I fumble between her legs.... searching for the poor bottle being squeezed warm!!!:D

Go to USA ebay and search... plenty there. Mine took 3 days to arrive!
