Thanks Mark, I was expecting to get slammed for this anyway but if you do a search i was expecting it to be alot clearer... maybe something for the mods to look at... in the FAQs/Common Faults why not break it down per model too, might make it easier to look at.
Anyways, i'll get on to those...

Hello All,
Before i start, i've already done some searching on the 3 amigos but would like run my issue by you lot and hear your thoughts. There doesnt seem to be a logical order to check this in so your pointers would be appreciated.

thanks darmain, even if there was sludge, i still cant hear the pump engage so could be a bit of both.
I will know more when i take a look at the faulty pump then try and locate a cheap alternative - like i said before, i'm sure the Pug 406/306 pumps are the same.
cheers,

darmain, that's interesting.
how would i test for this?! would i take the pump out from the underneath of the seat then take a dip of the fuel?!

i will give it a go at the weekend but not a sound from the pump, i'm hoping this is just a faulty connection
Chaser's link is superb, i've noticed that the pump is the same as the 306/406 pug...

thanks chaser,
i will check the fuel pumps at the weekend and let everyone know how it goes

yeah Fritz, I'm similar, I run it not less than the 2nd notch on the fuel gauge, so i never will see the fuel light.
i'm going to try changing the filter first, seems to be the most cost effective way to getting to the bottom of the issue

T
Fritz, does your low fuel light come on at all?!
-
T
thanks for the reply.
so going by this, could it be the low pressure lift pump at fault then?!
or would that mean no diesel will go to the engine at all times?
cheers

Hey all,
I've been following this forum for a couple of weeks now since i bought my freelander (gaylander depending on who is reading).
This post prompted me to sign up, I have the exact same problem and would just like to confirm to Fritz that i too need to keep the tank topped up. If I...
