    Disco 2 ACE ARB

Great that's what I was looking for. Will give that a go Edit: appreciate the advice given I've seen so many threads with you passionately defending ACE repair over removal!

    Disco 2 ACE ARB

Aye I get that bit haha. The thing is that I can't figure out how to get the link down to the hole it needs to go through, it's like the anti roll bar has flexed all the way up and doesn't want to come back down so my best effort get the link thread about six or seven inches from the necessary...

    Disco 2 ACE ARB

Picture of the roll bar below with the link hanging loose. The bare metal at the top is where the intercooler hose had been blowing compressed air through the crack in the metal. That problem is fixed but if I don't do something about this stupid hunk of useless hanging metal it will just happen...

    Disco 2 ACE ARB

Chaps, So I have learned my lesson about the need to understand cars thoroughly before buying one. Having been told by the dealer (not LR) that my D2 had the ACE removed and the pump was running on a loop, I have been living in ignorant bliss. The ACE pump was actually running to the ACE ARB...

Oil warning light and poor braking

+1. When I got my disco earlier this year the chap told me he'd just changed the oil but not what grade. The oil light would flicker on and off on the motorway until I changed it for the proper spec stuff. No such issue since. Assume the lower viscosity stuff just doesn't get picked up properly...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Finished off the fix to my show-stopping ace pump failure. Turns out changing a fan belt without removing the fan is actually quite easy on the old td5! However, in the process I did lean on and snap the crappy plastic part of the coolant reservoir return hose (the bit coming out the top of the...

    Heathrow F Up

Just got home. Literally 12 hours to get me from Heathrow to Kettering. That would be good value in the 18th century.

    Heathrow F Up

Update - still at Newport Pagnell or whatever it's called. I've exhausted all the QI videos on YouTube and am moving onto humorous cat videos. Supply of Jaffa cakes is running perilously low. Re: the AA I am a little disappointed with my experience today. There was 0 attempt to do any kind of...

    Heathrow F Up

Just to add to the flavour of how my day is going... I called the AA at 1:30 from Heathrow to take me to Kettering. They picked me up at about 3 and I was dumped at the services in toddington on the M1 and told another truck would pick me up. An hour later another truck took me to the next...

    Heathrow F Up

Thanks for everything chaps, I've decided to get the aa to take me and the damned beast home, my old man has picked up the mother in law. Thoroughly red-faced now.

Ok. Thanks guys. How far do you think k could go with an empty ace reservoir?

    Heathrow F Up

im in the terminal 5 short stay car park (level 3 row v) with smoke pouring from what I think is the ACE pump and a horrible acrid smell. The ace reservoir is empty but when I bought the car I was told ACE had been removed (lesson learned). I also have a steady drip of pure water from below the...

    Coolant in, coolant out

I can see the one you're talking about, but I've had a look and there's definitely no way of getting to the one I have leaking without dropping the mount. I just hope I don't go through all the pain and find a cracked block instead o_O

    Coolant in, coolant out

You're not kidding... Looks like i might need to take the engine mount out to get to it properly!?:(

    Coolant in, coolant out

Ok, as an update, I have found the water pouring like Niagara Falls out of what looks like a round brass plug the size of a milk bottle cap located behind the engine mount on the drivers side of the car. I believe it's a core plug? Are these threaded or can they be tapped back into place? I...
