hello , darrenw i had exactly the same problem. i have a td4 and it was not starting well then one day it would not start at all change diesel filter (which was very dirty) tried starting it but no fuel!!! the problem was actually the pump in the tank WORKING ITERMITENTLY!!! i removed pump...

just a update i tried ecu but still no good!!!! i will try another avenue? :mad: :mad:

thanks for the reply ming, i have spoke to lr and explained fault codes, but they said they cannot soley test the EAT ECU. and rather than spend £80 plus vat for diagnostics, i think i will just get hold of a eat ecu and try that.

Good evening ,thanks for the replie. I dont understand either, but the fault codes corresponding to 3rd, 4th and 5th gear arent a suprise , because it is only these gears that are affected. What was strange was that when i picked up car this afternoon it drove okay for a couple of minutes and...

i am not going to panic ,i will see what happens when i change the oil,by the way, the oil was 40pounds for 4 litres. rik if your reading this dont panic ,maybe check the level in the box, topping up may cure the problem? nothing to lose!!!

I am no expert, but i dont think that the jatco box has a clutch , it has a torque converter. so i dont think its the gears that slip, but someting to do with the torque converter.I might be wrong:confused:

Rikki, i find that when driving all of a sudden engine revs rise with no impact on drive.

okay i get it now. Quick question? do you know anything about the speed sensor , as i have had f4 flash up when slipping was really bad.

not sure rikki, i thought at first it was engine management playing up but it is now definatly the box slipping . i am going to change oil tomorrow and see what happens? i have heard that some people have topped up oil and slipping stopped, but you do not top up oil like conventional boxes...

Thanks for the replies! In replie to ming , the gear box is definantly slipping as it goes well from first to second, but when it goes up from that it slips badly, also i have noticed that when i use the manual step it is fine in 2nd< but when i put it in 3rd,It does engage but slips badly...
