Thats the only way mate. Take it all off & the boot etc. & you'll see a transverse steel pin that the lever forks onto. This is whats most likely siezed. You have to have patience & a lot of WD40 & spray grease & work it side to side & back & forth.You'll know when its free.

Thats the problem I found, where to get the used oil. Most of the chippy's etc round here have a deal with their suppliers to buy back the waste.
