It was driving fine went to my daughters no issues then on way home started making ratcheting noise that just got worse. I swapped it out a year ago with a box I tried rebuilding myself that’s now failed too

I did when originally happened they weren’t interested as gearbox was out of warranty. The gears on the pinion shaft look slightly distorted and most damage at bottom off the gear

Finally got round to stripping the gearbox that I replaced in my Defender last year and found the layshaft is missing quite a few bits of teeth. I’ve attached some pics hopefully someone might know why it’s done this. Gearbox was a rebuilt box from a company down south (not ashcroft) and only...

Was told need a tapered tool as the bushes are plastic and over sized?

12 O'clock ring a bell with me it's possible that someone drilled out the hole that's at 8 o'clock. I would fit the dowel at 12o'clock

The Dowel bolt is slighly larger on the shank but the actual bolt heads and threads are the same diameter once you have the swivel off the bolt will only fit in one hole

Did you try Gemm 4x4 They might have the parts on the shelf.
