Front prop shaft cardon joint gone. 2 options? Details needed!

No diff lock, although I've read elsewhere on here today that some do have it just not connected up. Unfortunately the car is still at work so I can't check until the morning. It's an early 02.

Front prop shaft cardon joint gone. 2 options? Details needed!

Eventually managed to track down a centre bearing on ebay: Land Rover Discovery 2 Front Double Cardan Centre Device Bearing | eBay Not cheap! Also found the other bearings elsewhere for £3.95 a pop! Ordered 3 sets. Fingers crossed it'll all come by Tuesday so I can get it back together.

Front prop shaft cardon joint gone. 2 options? Details needed!

So my cardon joint has gone. Fortunately only at slow speed as I was driving around town, fingers crossed there isn't any other damage. It' been "clunking" in and out of gear for a couple of weeks now. Then on Friday there was a horrible noise as I was driving along. Stopped and checked and sure...

Disco 2 auto gearbox won't engage reverse

Just thought I'd reiterate it's only when its cold. Once it's been running for a few mins its fine. Checked the oil again and it comes out of the filler when I undo it so I assume there's plenty in there.

Disco 2 auto gearbox won't engage reverse

Joy oh joy :( Is it worth getting repaired or am I better off just buying a used box off ebay?

Disco 2 auto gearbox won't engage reverse

The saga continues. Yesterday morning it couldn't get up a steep hill (going forwards) - total lack of drive. Surely even if the oil was past it's best it would just slow the gear change down, not loose power like this?

Disco 2 auto gearbox won't engage reverse

Hi Andy. The switch is occasionally intermittent but generally fine. What was curious was having left the car for an hour yesterday, when I went back to try again it was fine straight away. I'm going to do an oil change tomorrow, hopefully that will go some way to improving the situation.

Disco 2 auto gearbox won't engage reverse

I've got a 2002 TD5 Auto Discovery. Purchased it just over a year ago from my mother-not-quite-in-law who'd had it since new. Just before I got it, the gearbox lost all of it's oil (leak) and went bang. A used replacement box later and I bought it (gearbox was the final straw for her!). Car...

Having trouble removing gearbox oil cooler pipes

I didn't get an answer, so in the end used a hacksaw to cut the connection off the oil cooler. Once I had removed it I could see how it came apart. You basically just need to pull the plastic ring down away from the connection (so if disconnecting the oil cooler, you need to pull the two plastic...

Having trouble removing gearbox oil cooler pipes

I've finally found the cause of my gearbox oil leak (02 TD5 auto disco) ; the joint between the oil cooler and the pipe that carries the oil out. I've removed the intercooler etc etc - now all that remains is to remove the dam thing is to disconnect the so called "quick release" connections on...

Disco 2 auto gearbox oil sump

As the title says really! It's for a 2002 TD5 auto. Sump plug must be present and working! (Hence why I need a replacement )

Can't get gearbox sump plug out

Thanks for the replies. I suspected this might be the case! I did a search on here and someone suggested it was possible to top up the oil through the oil cooler pipes. Seems logical. The oil "out" end of the oil cooler seems accessible enough. Is this a good idea, or am I better off tackling...

Can't get gearbox sump plug out

Chaps, further to this thread http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/mysterious-gearbox-oil-leak-what-size-hex-key-do-i-need-top-up-181642.html the other day, I've been attempting to remove the gearbox sump plug (02 TD5 auto) this morning without much luck. Initially managed to get the plug moving...
