So.. I've managed to fix the lock with the help of a second hand one & have easily obtained the EKA code via main dealer - to my surprise I followed the instructions to reset it & voila the alarm has stopped going off! Hearing the 2 beeps of it's a match was very pleasing.. So it all now seems...

Have managed to open the door with fob, it started working again for some reason, key still does nothing, have removed lock and found a rod had brocken from the lock tumbler. I tried to remove roll pin to make a new rod and the whole thing fell to bits do to corrosion and poor quality metal...

New battery was fitted a week before xmas & is definitely good - alarm light is flashing every 2 secs on dash. YES! The key turns easily both ways which started tonight??

New battery was fitted as recommended for the model..
