3 door Freelander GS Td4 - Intermittant Immobaliser fault.

My Mrs has just bought her first Land Rover, its a very tidy looking Freelander Td4, the 3 door version. It runs really nicely, (for a Land Rover), and it does approx 100 to 140 miles a night travelling across Leicestershire as she is a District Nurse. The Immobaliser was playing up, it was...

Sanana series 3 1978, or not?

I agree with you its a 'bitsa' as there's not much on it apart from the headlights that says its a series three, but theres almost every part of it that says its a series two. I mean who would fit a series two bulkhead into a series three? Where is that famous plastic coated dash upgrade?

Yes it maybe a 2 year old thread but the information is still relevant, and as you have just done aswell, its responses draw attention from other members. :) So that restarts the interest in the Stage One.

My W reg Stage One, towing a 1960s / 1970s Eldis caravan that has a chassis , could easily accelerate upto 70mph plus when overtaking and returned 18.6mpg! Which is more than my V reg SWB Land Rover with it's 2.25 litre Ex Military Recondition engine and standard carburetor.

As you said yourself the easiest way to increase the BHP is by removing the restrictor plates. My Stage One still has the plates in and can easily accelerate straight up to 75mph, or 85 downhill with the wind helping, what I have had to do though was renew the wheel cylinders as hard braking...
