"Electrical Fault - Refer Handbook" it says

'Tis in dry dock as we speak, having its brains investigated. Later... Nothing specific. May even have been caused by errant signals from equipment nearby, or a loose connection to something central which got touched upon investigation. No doubt, we'll know if it recurs.

"Electrical Fault - Refer Handbook" it says

Headlights flashing initially, then just on permanently. No power to central locking or windows. Car driving OK and not immobilised. Indicators working but no solenoid sound inside car. The above message appears on the message centre. No fuses out. What the hell can it be this time!? Anyone...

    *Another* air con question

Interesting. I'll have them check it out at MoT I guess. If you don't mind my asking, roughly how much did it cost? I haven't really established a pattern with this, but the cold air does seem to flow more readily when the book symbol is on. Does it just take a while to get really cold anyway...

    *Another* air con question

Just had my 4.6 HSE regassed. Just before it was due in, the testbook symbol appeared for the first time ever. It reset and disappeared OK upon stopping and restarting the car. Now, it's been regassed. Garage said there were no leaks at all and nothing to indicate a problem having been logged...

    HSE lamp guard bolts

Anyone know where I can order a couple of these bolts please? I haven't got the exact measurement handy, but they're dome-headed, 5mm thread diameter and take a 3mm Allen key in the top. I'm missing a couple of them on the rear lamp guards. Any tips? Thanks!

    Odd headlight behaviour - suggestions?

It was indeed an earth problem, as you both pointed out. Went along to get the headlight beams aligned today and whilst there, picked the engineer's brains a bit. He found the dodgy earth and I went home and fixed it. Specifically, it was a bit of bodged earth wire with a filthy and delapidated...

    Odd headlight behaviour - suggestions?

OK, will check that too. Why would it spontaneously resolve though?

    Odd headlight behaviour - suggestions?

Ah, that's interesting. Thank you - I'll check that out.

    Odd headlight behaviour - suggestions?

O/s headlight was acting up today (H reg 90): 1. Dipped - very dim or non-existent (some continuous illumination of front o/s winkers). 2. Full-beam - brought on the front o/s winkers (continuously and dimly) and dimmed the front o/s side light. Corrected itself after a bit and hasn't...

    90 side light fittings

Yes. 5W aren't they? Even so, the holders don't seem to fit any bulb I've laid my hands on, including the ones taken from the old holders on the vehicle. It seems all to be down to the slot sizes in the plastic holders. Pattern parts...

    90 side light fittings

Yes - them. Nothing on E-bay, but there is Land-Rover-Parts-Shop.com - anyone know if their parts are pattern or close to originals?

    90 side light fittings

Worse than that, Jim, the bulbs which were with the "original" fittings (and these bulbs are identical to the new ones I have) don't go in either. The bulb holders are RTC5012 from Paddocks. Definitely the right ones, according to their website.

    90 side light fittings

Greetings one and all - my first post. I've had a search through for threads on this and not yet found any, but I'll be brief in case I've missed it. Got a boatload of spare light fittings for my 90 County and started putting them in. Only trouble is the grooves in the plastic bulb holders...
