Had the freelander in today and was told the thrum noise when changing to second gear is the gear linkage counter balance. Car will need to go in for a full day, ever heard of this before??

Joll Between 33-38mpg on mixed driving, light foot. A full tank is around £60 which I have just got around 470 miles out of on mixed driving. My freelander only has a 1000 miles on so hoping this will improve. Hope this is of help.
