My TD5 Disco hard to start and running rough

Can you hear the in tank fuel pump whirring with the ignition on? Could be dead fuel pump. Other thing to consider is the crank position sensor, if the garage had the gear box out then they may have damaged the wiring or not reconnected the sensor it properly, that'd log a code in the ECU though...

Whinning vibration noise that goes when I turn left

The ACE valve block is on the chassis rail in about the "behind the drivers seat" position. They are mounted on rubber isolator type fittings as well as all the ACE pipework, if any of that it loose/touching the chassis then you might get some noise being transmitted in to the chassis from the...

Whinning vibration noise that goes when I turn left

If it's really the air compressor running constantly I'd be worried it's going to burn itself out. Can you hear it when stationary?

Is this true or is it just rubbish??

First thing I did when looking for mine was get underneath and have a really good look before even taking any out for a drive, walked away from several seemingly mint looking ones that were in pretty bad shape at the rear around the fuel tank area of the chassis.

03 TD5 No low down power

You've found the problem then, good news. If you're resigned to buying a replacement anyway then you could try very very carefully cleaning the filaments in the old one with a suitable solvent. I've used carb cleaner before and a cotton bud. Don't apply any pressure to the filaments, just...

03 TD5 No low down power

UnPlug your MAF sensor and report back. If it drives better then you need a new one, £65-70 for an OEM part (VDO Siemens). Had exactly the same fault as you and new MAF fixed it. Have a search on the forums for more on the subject of cleaning the MAP sensor too as this can get gunked up if you...

Yeah I know! My bad.... like I said though, the site search has delivered the goods every time I've had a question... so far... :D

About time I introduced myself and stopped lurking ;-)

Hi, Simon here from the Derbyshire High Peak area. Been a member for a year and owned my Disco II facelift 53 plate for dead on a year now as well. Thought it was about time I actually introduced myself and stopped lurking. More importantly though I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the...
