    Which Discovery for this trip?

You will find a 300 more comfortable and refined on a long trip like that. The timing belt is much easier to change along with the other ancilleries at the front of the engine, power steering pump alternator etc. If the timing belt hasnt been changed then do it before you go (dzus make some...

Could be. When did you last change the oil and filter? Is it low on oil?

    hello and advice

Welcome to the forum. You may be right about the ball joint on the anti roll bar. They make a hideous amount of noise for the travel they have when they're worn out. Its quite an easy job to change one, its usualy pretty easy to spot the worn out one too.

    Steering shake

If you get them from the right place you can pick stub axles up from about £60, although land rover want astronomical amounts for them.

    Steering shake

A leaking pump could cause tight spots in the steering due to air getting in, but probably not a wobble. Changing stub axles is easy. Remove the hub as if you were changing the wheel bearings, then undo the six bolts holding the stub axle to the axle casting. Make sure you get new hub seals...

    Steering shake

Hi JAC. Had a few steering wobble woes myself. Firstly tightening bearings is a short term fix usually. I have done this before, even completely cleaning and regreasing both bearings, and been most upset when a few months later they need doing again. I always found when the bearings were...

    Disco diesel noise

Check the left hand side of the engine block, under the exhaust manifold, for sooty deposits. An exhaust leak from the block-manifold gasket would make a hell of a noise. Might be worth checking the manifold-down pipe joint too whilst ur under there, i've seen both leak.

Advice needed re Disco with various problems

A multitude of problems indeed. LPG. I know lots of people who have chased many problems with lpg systems. You said the MOT station rekon its lean on gas, did they adjust it for you? This may be a good place to start. A lean mixture setting could cause the engine to hunt at low revs, it will...

    Discovery 200 Tdi

George, If ur concerned about fuel economy, or the costs of a long trip, just follow a lorry or bus on the motorway. They sit at a steady speed and creat a huge slip stream to sit in. Long distance coaches are best cos they go a little faster, but you will notice a huge difference in the...

    Fan belt alignment............!!!

This may be a silly question, but is the pulley on the pump on the correct way round? I had this very thing happen to my truck a few weeks ago, luckily i found the pulley so i could re-use it. If you have fitted a new pulley however, it wouldnt have any dirt or wear marks on it, and it may...

    damsel needs your help asap

Yes, but its for the brakes. I wouldnt attach my brake vacuum pump to an old range rover diff lock diaphragm.

    damsel needs your help asap

No you dont want that. Its completely different. This centre diff lock works off a vacuum switch, even if you could patch it in there you have nowhere to get a vacuum feed from.
