    Basic Series Toolkit

The honesty is frightning;) I assume the scaffold pole is as a breaker bar? (although i am quite short) What sizes will I need in imperial and whitwworth spanners/sockets? I have alot of metric tools since my BMW E30 project. Although I imagine that the british engineering will be more...

    Basic Series Toolkit

Hi everyone, Still haven't found the right landy yet unfortunetly. But was wondering what tools are needed for working on one. I have a decent load of kit but don't know how usefull most of it'll be. (mostly metric gear so am slightly afraid of rounding off nuts and striping treads etc) So...

    €100 Landy

Hi Teflon, Thanks forthe very comprehensive answer. I have a lot to think about. I know restoring a land rover on "the mainland" (wait isn't Britain an island too?;)) would be a hell of a lot cheaper but as you say even Series for spares go for silly money here. Maybe another option is to get it...

    €100 Landy

Well I've come across an '81 109 diesel in a field here in cork (ROI). No battery, broken passanger windscreen, missing a couple of tyres. It's in quite high grass so it is difficult to check the chassis. No obvious huge holes in the bulk head. Rear cross member looks decent enough. I'm gonna...

Do you need free wheeling hubs?

Thanks for all your replies. So thats a no unless you get them on the motor. I don't expect to be doing that much off roading (bit of shooting) and only light towing. Looks like thats one less thing to worry about. Stew

Do you need free wheeling hubs?

Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this upsets any of the more experienced members but I'm really confused and i did do a search before posting When I originally became interested in Land Rovers I really didn't understand the point of FWHs. As the front wheels could be disconnected from the drive train...

    New contract = land rover.....eventually

Hi everyone, Stew here in Cork, Ireland I've been lurking for a long time with a view to getting myself a landy S3. But unfortunately haven't had the extra cash:( But today my new business venture (sports-wear) got its first contract from a large local school to the tune of 70K!!!!!!!! Now...

    Petrol od Diesel for Newbie

Thanks for the replies lads. I really don't have a preferance. The Petrol's extra bit of power would be nice but on the other hand I'm self employed so can claim back all my diesel receipts. And i'm guessing at the rate these yolks drink juice "free" diesel is a no brainer.

    Petrol od Diesel for Newbie

Hi everyone, It's my first post so please be gentle. Looking at buying my first land rover at the mo. Preferably a series 111. My question is, as a fella with limited mechanical knowledge which would be easier to tinker with, Petrol or Diesel? All input welcome please Stew.
